My Pre-Release Hangout--Lulu Taylor, "Delicious and Suspicious"

blog82 Hi y’all. I’m Lulu Taylor. You wouldn’t know me yet because my book, Delicious and Suspicious, hasn’t quite debuted.

Life is nutty when you’ve been written but before your book is released. People are starting to talk about me a little in reviews here and there. But I’m not really officially alive yet because my book is getting all gussied up at the printer still. July 6 will be my birthday.

So what have I been doing in the meantime while I wait? I’ve been hanging out here at the restaurant. Sorry, youblog80 wouldn’t know about it yet, since I’m pre-release. It’s a barbeque restaurant by the name of Aunt Pat’s and it sits smack-dab on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee.

Beale Street is alive with music, delicious aromas, and people, but Aunt Pat’s is just about the most peaceful place you’d ever want to hang out. Aside from the murders, of course. We’ve got blues music playing in the background and some of the most fun regulars you’ve ever laid eyes on. They cut up like nobody’s business and sometimes you can’t even understand a word that comes out of their mouth because they’re laughing so hard.

blog81 The other characters and I figured that this was party time for us—after all, our work is done. We’ve played out our dramas in the book and now we’re just in limbo waiting to be printed. Why not have a little fun?

Y’all can join me if you like. There’s a screened porch that sits right on the front of the building. And my son, Ben, is just now pulling some ribs out for us. The blues band is setting up and they’re going to be playing music to get your feet tapping. I saved you a rocking chair and a glass of sweet tea.

You can pre-order Delicious and Suspicious at Barnes and Noble and Indie-Bound. If you'd like to hang out with my author, she's Riley Adams--AKA Elizabeth Spann Craig. She's at Mystery Writing is Murder and Mystery Lovers' Kitchen. Thanks for visiting!

  6. What fun! July 6 is my mom's birthday, and I grew up mostly in Memphis. I think we'll have to celebrate by getting a copy of your book. I do have to admit, though, that I'm not really crazy about ribs (but I do like pulled pork!) :)

    Good luck with it all!

  8. Lulu, girl, we gotta hang out. You got karaoke up there? I'll bring a brisket, you bring the ribs, and we'll have a BBQ-off. (Sure, you'll win, but I'll get to eat!)

  17. Dru--Did you know that my Aunt Pat's restaurant just *happens* to have the best sweet tea in Memphis? It's the truth! And I grew up in that restaurant so it's just like home to me. Wait until you meet my best friends, the Graces. They're giving tours at Graceland right now, but as soon as they get back we'll all have a BBQ plate, tea, and start cutting up. :)

signlady217--Thanks so much for popping by! We've got pulled pork sandwiches at Aunt Pat's too. And if you tell me your favorte BBQ food, we'll prepare it, special-order just for you!

    JB--Thanks! Hope you'll enjoy it.

Bree--I don't think the blues band will mind if we join in at the mic! Sounds like a party to me. :) Besides, I FEEL like singing the blues after all that murder business. Whew!

Laineshots--You feel free to come by *any* time. Just ask for Lulu.

    Denise--Thanks so much!

Annette--I hope you'll become a regular, too! Aunt Pat's restaurant can never have too many regulars. :)

    Paige--Thanks for coming by!

Leann--Honey, we'll have to sit down and work through a big plate of ribs. You just come over any time!

Sophie--I have heard so much ABOUT you! Please do come by the restaurant. We love our divas at the restaurant! Our regulars, the Graces, *think* they're divas, so you'll have to set them straight. :)

Hannah--Thanks so much for coming by!
