Queen For A Day

I’m Soooo glad I found this place! I needed to get away from that whole Deb Baker/Hannah Reed split personality thing. I gave her (them) writer’s block for the day. She (they) are off to find the missing muse.

While I have the chance, I want to tell you we haven’t met yet. I’m Story Fischer and my first mystery adventure in the Queen Bee mysteries won't be out until September 7th.

A little about me:
  • I live in a tiny community that includes Mom, Grams, my sister Holly, and (as much as I want to wipe him off the face of the earth) my ex-husband, who lives right next door to me.
  • My family is most definitely matriarchal - 4 females vying for one Queen Bee spot. My mother appears to be winning.
  • I own a local grocery store called The Wild Clover.
  • And I have been learning how to raise honeybees.
  • Which seems to be a sticky subject around town, since my bees get blamed every time someone gets stung by one of those nasty wasps.
  • There is a difference you know, a big one.
  • A bee is NOT the same as a yellow jacket!
  • And I’m going to teach my readers just how valuable honeybees are.
  • Throwing in some honey products along the way, including some sweet recipes.
  • Did I mention that I love bullet points.

Shoot! Here she (they) come. Back so soon! Gotta go zap them again.

  1. ::waving:: Hi Story. I love your name. Is there a history surrounding it. I look forward to hearing about the adventures you have raising bees. Ex-husband next door? I hope that does not pose a problem for future relationships.

BTW, I do love my croissants with honey.

  6. I'm always surprised by how much misinformation there is floating around about bees. They're fascinating! But what really caught my attention is the little grocery store called Wild Clover. Why aren't there ever stores like that near where I live?

  7. The Wild Clover is filled with special treats - Wisconsin cheeses, wines, local produce, etc. And one of my favorites (after all the fun honey stuff, of course)- the old fashioned candy bins. Remember candy necklaces and candy lipsticks? Root beer barrels? Pixy Stix?

I can't wait to read Buzz Off!

  9. Story - maybe you could send some of that lovely Wisconsin honey down here to Dalliance, and I could whip up some honey ice cream. Maybe with a little mascarpone, in honor of Wisconsin's cheeses?

I wish you luck with your ex. Mine's been nothin' but trouble for me. High five, sister.

  14. LOL. This is great. I can't wait to read it. I really need more time in the day. Oh, and I know the difference between a bee and a yellowjacket when I see them. Bees don't make me say bad things.

  15. Love the ex-husband next door idea! It reminds me of my current (I hope he's my last) husband's family - 3 ex-wives all come for Thanksgiving. Never a dull moment. Can't wait to read Buzz Off!
