Today it's all about me, Me, ME!

By Angelica Miles

Hello, my darlings!  Are you as thrilled to be here reading my golden words as I am to be writing them?  And, of course, if you've been paying attention, my very first cookbook, EASY-DOES-IT COOKING will be available in only two and a half weeks and I'm about to embark on my very first book tour.  I'll be appearing all over New England at independent bookstores signing my heart out for all of my about-to-become die-hard fans.

What?  You've never heard of me?  Well, I own the most successful cookbook store in all of New Hampshire.  (Of course, it may be the ONLY cookbook store in all of New Hampshire.  I haven't actually Googled to find out.  Must put that on my things-to-do list.)  It's called the Cookery and it's located in the lovely little village of Stoneham, New Hampshire.

Girl scout badgeI've been cooking all my life (even have the Girl Scout badge to prove it), and absolutely love it.  Not that I HAVE to cook, mind you. After four divorces, I AM a woman of means.  (Why is it men just can't keep their zippers zipped?!)

Besides being a fabulous author (you'll find out when EASY DOES IT COOKING becomes available), I'm also an entrepreneur.  Not only do I own the Cookery, but I own Stoneham's most darling little bistro, Booked for Lunch.  Because I'm so busy, Booked for Lunch is only a lunchtime cafe, but the food (especially our homemade soups) is divine and made by my soon-to-be famous (you heard it here first) short-order cook, Jake Masters!  (You ought to come visit us. Go on, put it on your calendar right now!)  We're open year round, but see the most action during tourist season. You must come to New Hampshire to leaf peep come fall.  But you'd better avoid my sister, Tricia--she owns the mystery bookstore right next to me. It's called Haven't Got a Clue.  (And, honestly, between just us, sometimes Tricia just doesn't have a clue!).  Tricia has a tendency to find dead bodies littering up the village.  Just saying!

But back to me:  I'm planning a fabulous book launch party and you're all invited!  (I think you can read about it in some book called Chapter & Hearse, that will be available on August 3rd.)  There'll be food--all prepared by me from my own recipes in EASY DOES IT COOKING, and I'll sign your very own book (they're only $34.95--you might want to buy two--they make a GREAT gift!), and if I'm terribly busy signing from the long line of gourmands who will be dying to get their copies, you can have your picture taken with a life-sized cut-out of me that I had made.  (I must say, it looks almost as fabulous as I do!)

So, keep that date circled on your calendar and drive on over (or you can fly in to the Manchester airport) and see me on August 3rd.  I'll be waiting for you!

  1. Welcome Angelica,

You know you love it when Tricia's find dead bodies; that's what made you closer to her.

I would love to visit New Hampshire and your bistro and sample your lunch menu.

I've put August 3rd on my calendar. Tell the gang hi.

Oh btw, are you still seeing Bob?

  2. I'll be there, too. Dru, you may have to haul me out of Haven't Got a Clue. I tend to get stuck forever in mystery bookstores...

  3. Hi Angelica,

Nice to talk with you today. I've truly enjoyed reading about all your exploits in Tricia's lifer. Congrats on the cookbook. I may have to check it out, but only after I pick up my copy of Chapter & Hearse on August 3rd. I'm really looking forward to revisiting Haven't Got a Clue.

  5. Angelica-You are quite the character!! I love cookbooks and mysteries so I think a trip to
Stoneham is a must. But, I'm afraid to fly, so I'll just have to wait until we can fill the car up and cruise out there to see you guys, and visit your little cafe!! Can't wait for your new adventure to begin!!

  6. Hi Angelica,

I've been looking forward to reading about your next adventure in Chapter & Hearse. I've loved you and Tricia in your previous stories. Although I'm not much of a cook, I did win a cooking contest a few years back, but of course, the real excitement was Cherry drowning in the chocolate fountain.

  7. Angelica! How I've wished to have lunch at your bistro. My sister only ever makes cheesecake, never scampi. If you should ever tired of Tricia and Stoneham, you've got a big welcome waiting for you here.

  8. Lori, I know just what you mean. The hack that chronicles Tricia's adventure (that would be Lorna Barrett) is a chicken to fly, too. When she DID travel by air (before 9/11), she always flew coach--which is probably why.

Why do you people keep mentioning Tricia? This is MY day!!! But you know, Lyn, I would never leave her. What did she ever do for all those years without my advice and guidance? She definitely needs me.

  9. Hi Angelica. You are my favorite character in the Booktown Mystery Series. You remind me of me. I have a younger sister who like Tricia, doesn't appreciates my suggestions or comments. But like you, I just figure what does she know. I look forward to reading Chapter & Hearse. I just hope Tricia has the good sense to listen to you when you give her your sound and wise advice.

  10. LOVE IT!!!! Hope to be lunching with you soon so I can promote your book on my blog. I don't usually talk about cookbooks, but for you I will make a exception. Maybe you even want to do a guest post and share a few recipes. I look forward to hearing from you.

  12. I'm not a great cook (I don't really like to eat), but my husband is. Your cookbook sounds like a great Christmas present for him (he is soooo hard to buy for.) Looking forward to "Chapter and Hearse."

  14. Angelica, I have to admit you are one of my favorite characters. Which is interesting, because you remind me of my stepsis, who can be a lil much at times. But I still love her. I think it's because I like your vivaciousness, and your loyalty to Tricia. Though for the life of me, I can't see what you see in Bob Kelly.

  15. Shiloh--well of COURSE you love your stepsis. I'm sure she's got her heart in the right place and is only looking out for your welfare.

As for Bob ... well, he HAS been a bit standoffish lately. Wonder what THAT'S all about? Hmmm...only time will tell. (About August 3rd, I should imagine.)

  16. Aug. 3rd is on my calendar, too. Can't wait to see what's up with you and Bob, and find out how the book tour goes. The cookbook sounds great, by the way.

  17. Angelica -- So excited for August 3rd! And, I can't wait to know why Bob's been a bit standoffish.

    See you soon.

  19. Angelica, you have to admit that Tricia is very clever at figuring out what happened to those dead bodies. At least give her that.

  22. Hey, Angelica! I can use some help cooking, so I'll line up to get your book. But really, I like Tricia so much, I wish you'd give her a break and some credit. Maybe that will happen in Chapter & Hearse? Looking forward to finding out.
