Lulu vs. The Twitter

Aunt Pat's I’m all about finding new and exciting ways to advertise Aunt Pat’s BBQ. That restaurant has been in my family for sixty years. And, let’s face it, print advertising isn’t just expensive, it’s not reaching as many folks as it used to.

So when my step-grandson, Derrick, said he thought we could bring in extra business—totally for free, except for the internet connection—with the Twitter, I told him to sign me right up!

I kind of thought Derrick would stick around a little and show me the ropes. I guess kids today are so busy that they don’t have a lot of extra time.

Now I’ve got “followers” which kind of makes me feel like a cult leader or something.

Killer CharactersAnd all that @ stuff and DM stuff and tweets—phooey!

Yesterday, though, for the first time someone mentioned the Twitter special for a barbeque plate discount.

So now I guess I’m stuck doing it for a while.

Do you tweet? Or does Twitter make you feel like a twit, too?

  1. Too cute Lulu, I do tweet it takes some getting use to, but like everything you will pick it up ;).

  2. Twitter's kind of fun. Tweeting about barbecue, Lulu? Yum. Tell us your secrets...

  3. Aunt Pat, I'm still trying to figure out Twitter. But good BBQ, nothing to figure out there except how much can you eat. Looking forward to your next 'adventure.'

  4. I do have to tweet to promote my organizing business. It does take getting used to and I think I'll have to teach my author (eep). My advice is to have Derrick (great kid!) do it for you. We need you to take good of Aunt Pat's.

  5. Hi Lulu,

I really admire you for trying something new. I've barely figured out the Internet.

Wish I could come to your place for the barbeque plate discount.

  6. I love this series. Can't wait to read more.

  7. "The Twitter" *snicker* I love Lulu. I'm a twittering twit, but like Lulu, I try...

    (you're fabulous, Elizabeth)

  8. No tweeting here. I figure I have enough time sucks without getting hooked on Twitter.

  9. Babs--What I'm *really* hoping is that Derrick will pick it up for me. Now *that* would be perfect!

Janet--Gasp! You wouldn't be angling for my super-secret special sauce recipe, would you? That's going to my grave with me! Definitely not on the Twitter!

Mason--That's exactly right. And I'm baffled every day that I'm able to eat a barbeque sandwich. Yes ma'am, I've eating a BBQ sandwich plate every single day of my life since I was 8 years old! And not a health problem in the world, either (knock on wood).

Charlotte--You're so organized that I think you're going to get your author on Twitter with no problem at all!

Skye--Honey, for you, it would be "on the house!" The friend special, you know. :)

Erin--Why thank you, honey! It makes me proud to hear you say so. I'll pass that along to my author, for sure. :)

Hart--I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Sometimes there's just TOO MUCH to learn, you know?

My author, Elizabeth? Well, I'll let her know, hon. Although I think the lady might have a screw loose because she's on the Twitter all the time...

Heather--You can say that again, sweetie! That's why I'm trying to avoid The Facebook, too.

  10. I haven't braved the Twitter yet, but if I do, I'll be sure to look you up, Lulu!

  11. Heather--You do that! We can be Twitter twits together. :)

  12. Very cute & a great way to get more followers - like me

  13. Lulu, I think you're doing better with Twitter than I am! I joined and then haven't Tweeted much. Love what you said about having a "following"--it does sort of sound like a cult leader kind of thing, LOL!

  14. I recommend trying to buy Twitter followers, they have been recommended by a lot of bloggers and they can be trusted. We've used to boost the number of followers for a few of our clients and they're all satisfied

  15. tried twitter and it did not like me, first time going back in it would not recognize my password and no matter what it would not work so I decided to foreget about it. Plus I decided that trying to follow others on there would take wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to much time.

  16. Welcome back Lulu. So nice to hear from you again. I don't Twitter, I'm too busy on Facebook. I can hardly wait to read your next book.
