What do you mean you're going to Texas?

"I'm going to write a novel someday." Have you ever noticed
the amount of people who say that? And have you also
noticed that people never say "I'm going to star in a novel
someday"? Why do you suppose that is?

I'm Angie DeLaura. I "star" for lack of a better word in
Jenn McKinlay's cupcake bakery mysteries. Mel and Tate,
my co-stars, and I tend to think that starring means we do all
the work, while she the writer goes off gallivanting to Texas
to sign books. She being author Jenn McKinlay.

And where does that leave us? Well, let me tell you, it leaves
us with no ending to book three DEATH BY THE DOZEN.
I peeked, so I know. How can she just leave us with no ending?
She assures me that she'll get to it when she gets back.

Excuse me? You'll get to it? Humph! Not that
I'm a prima donna here or anything, but I sort
have some love life issues that need to be resolved.
Ahem. Oh yeah, and there's a dead body or two
that need some explaining, but don't you
worry yourself about little old me and the
dead bodies. Oh no, you just go have fun
with Wendy Lyn Watson,
Maggie Sefton and Hannah Reed.

Hey, I wonder if they've left their stars hanging.
Excuse me, I need to go text Tally Jones,
Kelly Flynn and Story Fischer and see if we
need to send a character posse to Texas to
kick some author butt!

Oh, and if anyone feels inclined to nag on my behalf,
here's where those gallivanting authors will be:

September 30 - 7:00 PM Barnes & Noble
La Frontera
Village Round Rock, TX

October 1 - 6:30 PM

Murder by the Book

Houston TX

October 2 - 2:00 PM Barnes & Noble

San Antonio, TX

October 3 - 2:00 PM

  1. Hi Angie,

perhaps while Jenn is on the road, she will get a fantastic inspiration for the ending of the third book that will satisfy both you and the readers.

  3. Nag Jenn. Tell her what to say, and she'll stay up all night saying it. Do you hear what I'm saying, Willow?

    Janet

I hear you, Janet. Stop putting me into horrible predicaments, and I'll stop nagging.

    Willow

    That's what I'm afraid of...

  4. Angie, Angie, Angie,

If your author doesn't go on these tours and sell books, there will be no more stories for you to star in. I'm always happy when Denise does book signings for me.

  5. It's not so much that she's going to Texas to
sign books as it is that she hasn't finished
book three (I'm seriously thinking of calling her
    editor and telling)! Angie

  6. I really believe if our authors were better organized this wouldn't happen. My sympathies. I can't be in Texas, but I wish I could.

  7. And you have all those lovely donuts to create! How I wish I lived closer and could visit....or maybe it's better for my gorilla-ish figure that I don't.....

  8. Hey, don't email Kelly, please. She's annoyed enough with me already. And concerning the dead principal in your series---I'm really glad I don't have kids in elementary anymore.

  9. GAH!!!! I had a midnight epiphany and realized I said you had donuts to make! And I KNOW you make pupcakes (as my 7 year old calls them)....I will use my blonde card for the week on this.

  10. Are you kidding me? Do you have any idea what that Wendy person did to me at the end of Scoop to Kill? These authors are more trouble than they're worth. But I'm down here in Texas, and I'll hunt them down if you want me to. (Probably off yucking it up and drinking margaritas .... Pffft.)
