It may seem a little unusual that the police force in Mercy, South Carolina would welcome the help of an amateur like Jillian Hart. But I gotta tell you, we need all the help we can get. All that fancy forensic stuff you see on TV--the stuff that makes my mouth water? Well we got none of that in Mercy. Word of mouth--okay gossip--is a valid police tool. Small towns are run on gossip and we at Mercy PD thank the good Lord for it.
Of course we do have the added difficulty of a Deputy Coroner who thinks someone's gonna discover her and put her on the television. That is not happening, but don't tell Lydia she's a fool. She might stomp on your toes with one of those high heels she's always wearing. She just keeps missing things at crime scenes, but stopping at every mirror does distract her.
As for Jillian, she's smart, she's kind and she has great intuition. Okay, she's become my best friend. Mercy PD welcomes her help, but I just wish she wouldn't keep finding bodies. I worry about her. Plus we're gonna get a reputation as the murder capitol of the world if she keeps stumbling into crime scenes. But at least she's smart. She knows that preserving the evidence is important. I sure wish everyone knew that even a grain of sand could be a clue. 'Course first you have to find it. And that's my job. I love the evidence, now matter how small. I even love all those cat hairs Jillian's brought to town. We might just start our own cat DNA data base like they have in California. Now THAT would be cool.
