SPOTLIGHT ON FRONT STREET BOOK SHOP (Scituate, MA)

Enthusiastically recommended by Sheila Connolly (and her good friends Meg Corey and Nell Pratt)
Front Street Book Shop is a booklover’s dream. Once upon a time it was as a small house in the center of Scituate Harbor, Massachusetts (which does have a harbor and boats—and readers). The comfy furniture remains, but the walls are lined with books of all kinds; you’re welcome to settle into an upholstered couch and browse your way through an eclectic selection of fiction and non-fiction.
The bookstore has been operating continuously for over fifty years, and is now under the management of Peg Patten (she defines herself as an owner/caretaker), who believes in every book she sells. She hosts quite a few readings and signings, and has been a strong supporter of the local Sisters in Crime Chapter, sponsoring monthly events for them.
If you ever find yourself wandering along the coast south of Boston, stop in and say hello to Peg. I guarantee you’ll leave with more books than you planned!

  2. That looks like a nice cozy place to check out and relax with a good book. Too bad it is far away maybe one of these days.

  4. If I lived near there, they would have to put a cot in the backroom for me. I mean why leave?

  5. This looks like such a charming book shop. I hope to be in MA sometime in the next year--hopefully I can set up a signing. I think Lucy Valentine would approve!
