Making a list and checking it twice

From Dr. Maggie Walsh, of the Talk Radio Mysteries by Mary Kennedy

Santa's not the only one making lists in this busy holiday season. My producer, Vera Mae, loves to make lists. She said it helps her prioritize and she loves checking off her accomplishments at the end of the day. She has an "A" list (things that really have to be done, like scheduling guests and commercials on my talk show), a "B" list (things that would be nice to do, but are not urgent) and her "longshot" list. Her longshot list is a wild card, things that will probably never happen but are fun to dream about. For example, Vera Mae is convinced that George Clooney would love to be a guest on my show the next time he's in south Florida. She's actually trying to get in touch with his publicist. How about you? Do you keep lists and do you find them helpful?

  1. Dr. Maggie, I'm a compulsive list maker. I love making to do lists just so I can check things off. I'll even put things I've already finished on a list just to draw the line through them. Do I need help?

  2. I don't usually make lists, but now that I'm moving to Threadville to set up my own sewing and machine embroidery shop (yay!), I think I should make lists - and look at them once in awhile, too.

Like Linda, I'll add some things after I've done them. They were on my mental list, so that counts, right?

  3. Linda, Freud would love you--compulsions can be good, they drive us to action! And (true confession time) I do the same thing you do. I like to add tasks I've already done to the list, just for the fun of crossing them off!

  4. Willow, it sounds like you have a lot on your plate, lists would definitely be a good idea, just so you can keep "on task." Can't wait to hear more about Threadville.

  5. Oh Linda....I am SO glad to hear that I'm not the only "listaholic". I do the same things, for the same reasons.....sad ha?? :-D

  8. Lists and I don't get along. Yet I keep trying to use them to keep me organized. What's the definition of insanity again?

    MJ, LOLOL!
