Resolutions, Valentine Style

By Lucy Valentine
from Heather Webber's Truly, Madly & Deeply, Desperately

It’s that time of year. I’m making resolutions, checking them twice:

-I will finally figure out how my “gift” of finding lost objects works (as long as I don’t have to see any “specialists.”)

- I will stick to Grendel’s diet (he’s seriously a Big Boy) and stop feeding him cheese to allay his separation anxiety.

-I will help my grandmother Dovie find the love of her life (whether she likes it or not).

-I will stop eating Twinkies for breakfast (might switch to Ho-Hos).

-I will stop finding myself in the middle of murder investigations.

-I will face my commitment fears head-on.

-I will ask Sean to move in with me. (no need to rush into anything drastic)

- I will try to keep nosy reporter Preston Bailey away from Cutter (she’s so close to finding out all the Valentine secrets).

-I will not let Marisol give me another pet.

-I will try to dissuade Marisol from giving me another pet (might as well make a resolution I have a prayer of keeping).

I suppose that’s enough for now. Let’s see how well I do—my next adventure, Absolutely, Positively comes out in February. I have a sinking feeling that my hope for staying out of murder investigations isn’t going to last…

Are you making any resolutions?

  1. I am going to try to eat better and exercise more. Also, going to cut way down on the coffee consumption.

Little Debbie Zebra Snack Cakes would be a great substitution for the Twinkies. :-)

  3. I'm not making any that I can't keep to...hmm, that might make zero. LOL

Good luck with the no pet policy with Marisol.

BTW, don't deny Grendl cheese. Just make it a low-fat choice, like ricotta or one of the hard cheeses. [I share how to make fresh ricotta on my blog today.]

Can't wait for your new adventure in February. Congrats!

  5. 1. Resist Simon's attempts to win me back.
    2. Resist my mother's attempts to run my life.
    3. Resist the urge to smack any of my principals, even the ones who make unreasonable demands.

  6. Well, Lucy, out of those nine--oops, eight--resolutions, I am quite sure you will keep the first. One out of eight ain't bad! Make it two--switch the Twinkies for HoHos. You're doing great!

  8. Twizzlers are fat-free, makes a good choice if you have to give up the Twinkies.

Looking forward to seeing which resolutions you keep in Absolutely, Positively.

As for Lucy...well, I think she's not going to be too happy.

  11. Great resolutions, Lucy! Love them and I can't wait to see what happens for you next!

With a new administration taking over the White House, I resolve to leave conspiracy theories and criminal investigations to the Secret Service!
