Journal Entry #5, by Harlow Jane Cassidy

I’ve never been one for New Year’s Resolutions, but being back in Bliss, Texas has brought out all kinds of crazy in my personality.  Who'd have ever thought (besides Meemaw, maybe) that I'd open my own dressmaking shop?

I also became an amateur sleuth.  That was never something I imagined I’d do.  Wonder if Meemaw had that up her sleeve like everything else she seems to have had.  Whatever Meemaw wants, Meemaw gets.
I’ve been holding my own, though, and making a million dresses...or 5.  And with Josie's wedding just days away (if it's actually going to happen) and the bridal dresses almost done, I was hoping something else would come along to keep me sewing.

It did.  Mrs. Zinia James wants me to be in charge of a debutante ball / fashion show this summer.
More dresses to make!
So my resolutions for the year are:
  1. to find out why Nell Gellen died
  2. to learn who killed her
  3. to figure out how in the world to organize a fashion show

This is the dream board I started.
It's a work in progress and I'll be adding to it.
Oh, and I wouldn’t mind getting to know Will Flores a little better.  Considering his daughter Gracie’s going to be working wth me now.  She’s a good seamstress.   Meemaw sure had things figured out when she orchestrated Will and Gracie being part of my new life.  Wonder if she’ll hang around--or if her invisible ghost will--to help with the fashion show.
Meemaw, where are you?

Do you think she'll help me figure out the fashion show?  God almighty, I hope so.

Now, I also wanna know, have you ever made a dream board?

  1. *grin* Sounds like family members of mine. Conversation seems really Yup I'm part hillbilly/hick.

  2. I think you'll be just fine with meemaw guiding you. Nick Flores? Do tell us more.

  3. Making dresses for the debutante ball should be fun, if you get the chance - and have the time. I look forward to hearing more about it.

  4. Dru, Will Flores is one smokin' cowboy. Although, technically, he's an architect. Loves old buildings. Serves on the town's historic council. I think you'll like learning more about him!

  5. It's good to be hillbilly/hick, Melanie!

  6. Willow, I know you know what I'm talking about with time management and small town goings-on. I'll do my best, though!

  7. Love the dream board! Every amateur sleuth should have one. What a nice way to start the year.

  8. Never made a dream board. And I too want to hear more about Will!!

  9. I have a feeling a debutante ball is just asking for trouble! LOL. A dream board is a great idea. One some of my characters might need to borrow.
