The More Things Change ...

Well, friends, Killer Characters has been on the web for seven months now (wow!), and we've learned a lot during these first toddling steps.

Starting this month (January, 2011), a few things will be changing here at Killer Characters.

Don't freak out ... Killer Characters will still provide you with insights into the minds of some of your favorite cozy mystery characters. But we hope these little tweaks will make your visits to KC even more enjoyable.
  • Alas, a few of our characters have had to stop blogging regularly. They simply have too many other commitments (all that sleuthing takes up a lot of time). But we're hopeful that they'll still stop in now and then for guest appearances.
  • Speaking of guests, we're going to start having them! Look for some unfamiliar faces and some surprising riffs on the whole Killer Character theme. (Hey, we want to keep you on your toes.)
  • To accomodate our new line-up, we have a modified posting schedule. Want to know when your favorite characters will be posting? Just click on the "Killer Character Line-Up" link in the sidebar, and you'll find a calendar with all the pertinent information.
  • We're also going to try to make it easier for you to keep track of who's who on KC, with our posts following a more uniform format: we'll lead off every post with the character's name, but also the book/series from whence that character comes and the author, too.
  • In our commitment to bringing cozy readers and their favorite books together, we're putting together two new resources: (1) a state-by-state list of mystery-friendly independent booksellers and (2) a calendar of mystery conferences across the country. These will take a little time to wrangle together, but stay tuned!
  • Finally, we're updating our contest rules. First, we'll only have a single contest every month, with a slightly bigger prize. How do you win? Leave a comment! Every comment is another chance to win.

On behalf of all the Killer Characters--authors and sleuths, side-kicks and villains--thank you for sticking with us through our inaugural year on the web, and we hope 2011 brings us all much joy and success.

We look forward to continuing to blog for you all (we have to keep our characters busy so they don't get into *too* much trouble).
