Book 9 in the series
Oh, yeah! It's baseball and softball season at last! And all of us---the Gang, that is---can finally be outside running down balls and slamming homers over the fences. Well. . .we can dream, right? I'm Lisa, and I'm the pitcher on a local Fort Connor softball team along with Kelly, our first baseman, and Megan, who covers right field. Our good friend Jennifer doesn't play softball or any outside sports. She says she doesn't like to "stand in the sun and sweat." That is so Jennifer.
As for Kelly, Megan, and me----we couldn't wait for Winter to end and Spring to begin. The guys were just as anxious. Snow had covered the ball fields for too long, and we couldn't wait to get outside and start swinging the bat and catching balls. Believe me, there's nothing like running around outside to blow off any workplace tension. I should know. I'm a physical therapist at the Sports and Health Center here in town, so I get to see the people who have NOT paid attention to their bodies and let that tension twist their muscles into knots.
That's never been the Gang's problem. We all LOVE to get outside. Even in the Winter, we go skiing and sometimes we snowshoe. But, Summer is our favorite because we ALL love to play ball. This season promises to be extra special because our old buddy Steve (aka Kelly's boyfriend) will be playing with us again. In fact, he's already started driving up from Denver to practice with us. Bless his heart. I've known Steve since elementary school, so I know how much he missed playing ball last summer when he was working two jobs. As my boyfriend, Greg, likes to say: "The big bat is back!" Oh, yeah.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are just happy that Steve and Kelly are talking to each other again. Oh, yeah. One step at a time. See you guys later.
