Racing to the Finish

CORPSE IN THE CRYSTAL BALL by Kari Lee Townsend                                                       Joanne Burnham speaks out about racing to the finish

Jo: What a day. Can I just say, our author is driving me crazy.
Sunny: Why?
Jo: Um, hello, because she's racing us all to the finish right along with her. Do you know she asked me to post this blog for her? Me...a mere character in a book. How the heck am I supposed to know what to do? Do you see her book cover? When I put it to the left, I can't get the text on the right side of it. So I said to heck with it, and I put it smack dab in the middle.
Sunny: Uh oh. You know what that means...
Jo: Oh yeah, I'm sure she'll pay me back big time.
Sunny: Yup.
Jo: She'd better not mess with me and Cole. I finally have the man where I want him.
Sunny: She's been so busy training for her first ever 5k. I am so proud of her, but man, she is racing us all to the finish. Finish the next book, finish this blog post, finish whatever. Ugh. I am stressed out for her. Can you imagine being an author with four kids and a husband who travels? I don't know how she does it.
Jo: I do. (insert snort) She makes us do it.
Sunny: True, but come on. It's Kari we're talking about.
Jo: I know. (insert sigh) And that's the only reason I'm cutting her some slack. I love that woman. All in all, I'm kind of liking the way she's planned out my life.
Sunny: Me, too. I can't wait to see what happens for you and Cole.
Jo: Ditto, babe. Whether you believe it or not, you and Detective Stone were meant to be.
Sunny: Only time will tell. In the meantime, let's have her back, because you know she always has ours.
Jo: Okay, I'm in. But just so you know...she owes me for this.
Kari: Hey, ladies...Kari here. Just FYI ... I see and hear everything.
Sunny: Oh...
Jo: Oh, my...
Kari: Oh, yeah...and just so you know. I will always have your backs. Right after my 5k that is. Oh, look at the time. Gotta run :-)
