Cop Tales anyone?

Submitted by Officer Tyler Dekker of the Harrison Falls Police Force. Officer Dekker first showed up in The Christie Curse, the first of Victoria Abbott's book collector mysteries and plans to play a bigger role in The Sayers Swindle, book two in the series.

I might be a “nice guy” but I’m not stupid, so I think it’s kind of cute that Jordan—that’s Jordan Bingham, niece of the notorious Kelly brothers— thinks I don’t already know about the skeletons in her family closet.
When I first saw her dark hair and beautiful face blow past me doing 80 in a 65 mph zone behind the wheel of her vintage blue Saab, I had to pull her over and not just because it’s my job as a Harrison Falls police officer.

Now, I’m not going to lie to you, after that first encounter, I tried to find ways to bump into Ms. Bingham.  Luckily for me, she regularly finds herself in tricky situations, where a guy in blue can swoop in and make himself useful, or at least get himself noticed.  With Lance DeWitt, the town’s most flirtatious librarian perpetually at her side, it’s almost impossible, but I have my ways.

Mind you, she is a wizard with disguises and diversion tactics but that won’t keep me from keeping a watchful eye over my favorite person in Harrison Falls and turning a blind eye to the “business” dealings of her family.  And the fact she owns a set of lock-picks.

Now after her recent brush with death in The Christie Curse, she’s searching for a missing Dorothy L. Sayers collection in The Sayers Swindle. That doesn’t sound dangerous, but Jordan has a way of attracting trouble . Never mind. I’ll do my best to help whether she wants me to or not.

But here’s my question: Is there any hope for us to become more than just Cop and Speed Demon? Or do her murky family connections and my new career with the police doom us from the start?  Any advice?

The Sayers Swindle is due out December 3, 2913, but you can pre-order it now!

  3. Tread carefully, my man. These gals who get themselves into trouble by trying to set things right can add up to a lot of wear and tear on a guy. Never mind having to deal with her iffy family. Wish you luck.

    1. Hmm. Mot sure whether I should pass on this message. Perhaps it got caught in a spam filter? What's with police guys anyway?

  5. You think oil and water don't mix, Tyler? You can't make a wedding cake without 'em.

    1. Thanks, Dorothy. I'll pass that on too. Somehow though, I don't see you as the domesticated type baking cakes. Hmmm.

  6. I love it that you know all those details about her allready, you keep saving your lady and I hope something will happen between you soon. After all, a man in uniform is so much more appealing than a stuffy librarian ...
