Auntie KiKi’s reminding us that... You know it’s spring in Savannah when…
You don’t bother with the forecast in case there’s the
slightest chance of frost and you need to be heading for the grocery whether
you need anything or not.
You don’t have to worry about a pesky cold snap
below 70 degrees.
You have witched from heat to A/C in the same day.
You hear, “Hey, y’all, watch this!” as daddy starts
the mower and you pray those won’t be his last words.
You know if it grows, it sticks; if it crawls, it
bites.
You help grandma with puttin’ in her tomato and
okra garden.
You start planning for all state festivals named
after a fruit, vegetable, grain, insect or animal.
You make room in the freezer for the other white
meat called catfish.
You know to keep an eye out for the 10,000 known
types of spiders in the South, plus some no one has ever seen before.
You know there are four seasons: Almost Summer,
Summer, still Summer and Christmas.
You take granddaddy’s shotgun out for a run.
You consider100°F is “a little warm.”
You think iced tea is appropriate for all meals and
started drinking it when you were two. And you won’t consider drinking it
without sugar.
You think turn signals will give away your next
move’s to the big sale to get a new sundress.
You work in your garden till you’re done or it’s
too dark to see.
Your local papers cover national and international
news on one page, but local gossip and sports take six.

You have to climb over a snow bank to get to the DQ, that just took the boards off their windows to start the season. It's spring in Minnesota.
ReplyDeleteLoooove the DQ! Snowbank and all makes it worth the effort. DQ is a big hit here in Savannah. Get the one dipped in Chocolate. Yummmm
DeleteWhen you can go out more than one day in a row without your boots, it's spring in WNY.
ReplyDeleteYes, NY is tough. So much snow. You need to visit with me and Reagan here in Savannah. We'd have a blast!
DeleteThat bag is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSpring is subtle in south Florida. It starts in mid-February. There are leaves falling off certain trees (rather fall like) while early spring leaves are beginning to show on other tress and bushes. We have lows in the 40' some nights and highs in the 80's some days.
That's spring around here.
Lucky you to have 80s. Here in Savannah the azaleas are big as busses and the magnolias are getting ready to bloom. Spreing lasts for two months...as close to heave as we get here on this earth. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhen I can put the screen back in the window for a week or so before turning on the AC here in Charleston, SC :)
ReplyDeleteYou know it is spring when the Robins arrive, even if there is still snow on the ground.
ReplyDeleteSpring in Kansas. It was 73 degrees yesterday and it snowed this morning. Truth.
ReplyDeleteFlowers bloom, bikers bike, runners run, dogs abound the the warmth and soothing temps. saubleb(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI live in Los Angeles and spring has come and gone. My personal marker is the first evening when you can smell the jasmine. Usually that is the second week in February.
ReplyDeleteSpring is here is full force and I love it. Bright blue skies, sunshine and 70's. Walking in the evening. planting flowers enjoying the long sunny days.
ReplyDeleteI know it is Spring when I am continually running to the pharmacy for antihistamines as the bloomin' flowers are bloomin'.
ReplyDeleteTurtles and tortoise are out of hibernation and are looking to be fed.
ReplyDeleteSpring in MA to me is when the 12 foot piles of snow are only about a foot tall and patches of grass, although still all brown, are showing here and there and birds begin to come back to the still bare trees. And when I see the first sprouting of my big pot of chives start to emerge. That is spring to me. Wish I was in Savannah to see those huge azaleas and those wonderful magnolias but I don't want to see snakes, so what do I do??
ReplyDeleteThank you Duffy and Auntie Kiki!!!

The rain is warmer. There are more "wait 5 minutes" and the weather will change days. Flowers

Spring allergies kick in with runny nose, sneezing, red & itchy eyes. AND, everyone mows their yard or washes the car in the driveway.
