Southern Tea Party…sort of

...or it’s pass the pitcher and keep ‘em coming week

Reagan Summerside here. It’s May and heating up in Savannah so everyone’s taking to the verandas with something tall, cool and delicious and I’m not talking Walker Boone.

Martinis are the drink of choice of course but in the early summer we ease into out fav pastime. Auntie KiKi was visiting Mercedes the other day and did a taste test Southern style. The event was supposed to be for an hour or two but seemed to stretch on till around midnight. Here’s the results…

KiKi Made Me do it  Indulgence
Strawberry Margarita Spritzers
1 (10-oz.) package frozen whole strawberries, thawed
1 (10-oz.) can frozen strawberry daiquiri mix, thawed
            1 cup tequila
            1/4 cup orange liqueur
            2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 (1-liter) bottle club soda, chilled
Garnishes: lime slices and quartered fresh strawberries

Mercedes Made Me Do it Madness
            1 bottle rosé wine
            1 cup vodka
            1/2 cup peach nectar
6 tablespoons thawed frozen lemonade concentrate
            2 tablespoons sugar
1 pound ripe peaches, peeled and sliced
            1 (6-oz.) package fresh raspberries
            2 cups club soda, chilled

And on top of it all Auntie KiKi has declared this is the year of the tot…not the little kiddie variety but the tater tot.

No longer does the tot linger in high schools, it’s done graduated and is showing up as a late-night snack or the foundation of a gourmet meal, if you can believe it.

Some of KiKi’s fav renditions of the tot are…
BBQ, dipped in blue cheese, loading them with smoked pork and then there’s Mercedes fav, nachos with tots instead of tortilla chips

Got fav summer drink or dish? Let me know and I’ll have KiKi pick two names for a Pearls and Poison koozie to keep you summer libation chilled. I do declare it’s fixin’ up to be one mighty fine summer indeed.

Hugs and God Bless Summer

Well, if you have a good drink, it's easy to "dish"! (Couldn't resist)
