Murder of a Needled Knitter by Denise Swanson features Skye Denison Boyd on her honeymoon cruise.
I don’t know about all of you, but the holiday season is a very hectic time of year around Scumble River. My mother, May Denison, goes overboard on decorations and gifts and food and you name it. I knew that I was tempting fate to place my wedding for the Saturday after Christmas, but as a school psychologist, I really didn’t have much choice. We don’t get to pick our vacations, and Wally, my husband-to-be said he wasn’t waiting until my summer break.
Luckily, except for having to solve a homicide that week, (Murder of a Stacked Librarian) the wedding went off without a hitch. And the star on top of the Christmas tree was the cruise Wally surprised me with for our honeymoon.
I don’t usually mind winter, but this year the cold and snow started before Thanksgiving and I was so ready for a Caribbean vacation. Just me, my brand new hunky husband, and seven days alone.
We had barely boarded the ship when I got my first hint that our honeymoon wasn’t going to go exactly the way I had pictured it. As we waited for the elevator that would take us to our suite, I saw my mother on the staircase behind us.
Wally assured me that I was just overwrought from the past week—celebrating Christmas, putting on a wedding, and solving a murder, but I know what I saw.
Well, even if Mom is onboard we can always lock ourselves in our cabin, and as long as no one gets murdered, I’m sure we can still enjoy our trip.
You can read more about Wally and Skye’s honeymoon, in Murder of a Needled Knitter, the 17th book in the Scumble River mystery series, published by Penguin. Books are available at retail and online booksellers.
