Chocolate and Men

I can hardly wait for summer. We're suffering from a blast of Arctic air here in Old Town. It's so cold that the golden and Labrador mix that I'm fostering doesn't even want to go for walks. He bounds out the door, sniffs around for a minute or two and wants to go right back into the house or over to Sophie's. I think he likes the fireplace and the food there as much as I do. Smart fellow!

Sophie is working on an anniversary celebration for Amore Chocolates. It won't be until June, when the weather is nice and gardens are in bloom, but I can hardly wait because there's going to be a chocolate tasting! Can you imagine? Home cooks from around the country are submitting recipes for an Amore cookbook, and we're going to get to taste them all. That's my idea of heaven. Cakes, pastries, brownies, cookies, desserts, and candy, too, of course. I'm telling you, the mere thought of it is all that's getting me through this lousy weather.

Sophie's still seeing Alex. He's developing quite a reputation in Old Town. He's the go-to guy when you're in big trouble. It's keeping him really busy. He's sure easy on the eyes, and I like that military bearing he has, but I'm beginning to suspect that he may not be the best guy for Sophie. He gets a little impatient with the fact that she's still friends with her ex-husband Mars. Maybe it just irritates me because I like our circle of friends. Mars and Sophie are a big part of it, so it bugs me when Alex is put out because we include Mars. I don't know. Do you like Alex? Who do you want to see with Sophie?

  2. That will be a very good cookbook to have! And I don't know enough about Sophie and Mars and Alex to say who she should be with. I had better get reading!

  3. I love this series! Chocolate...there's nothing better than chocolate. I say...bump off the cops wife so Sophie can have him back! Alex isn't right for her that's for sure. And Mars...anyone who has the bad taste to be with Natasha isn't good enough to get back together with Sophie. Natasha drives me nuts! Congratulations Krista on this newest addition! Keep 'em comin'!

    1. LOL! Thank you so much. Always good to know who people are rooting for. Bump her off? ROFL!

    2. I totally, totally agree with your assessment of the men! Alex is not right for her...he doesn't really "get" her and needs to accept everyone in her life. She and Mars can't get back together cuz he was/is dumb enough to be with Natasha and not Sophie. Geez, what a moron. I really did like Wolf. I also wish his wife would disappear so he and Sophie could get back together. They made a good team. And I can see he and Mars getting along eventually, though a little tension there isn't necessarily a bad thing! I love Sophie and especially how she can whip up delicious food so effortlessly :) But how about some action from her ghostly aunt? That would add a little more fun....having her aunt try to add her 2 cents worth into whatever is happening. Love this series!

  4. The Amore cookbook sounds heavenly! I seem to be a book behind dealing with Sophie and Alex, but I'm not sure about Mars and Sophie getting back together. Of course I am not a big fan of Natasha but she can be funny (even if she doesn't know it). I have a hard time understanding how Mars and Natasha started dating and became a couple (I don't think they are right for each other).

You are my first cozy mystery author, and I love the Domestic Diva Mysteries series. Thank you continuing the books (and for the Paws and Claws Mystery Series). :)

  5. I like Mars, but not as a romantic pairing for Sophie. Mainly because I don't think he likes Natasha very much and I can't respect a guy who stays with a woman he doesn't even like very much. It's been established that Natasha has issues, but Mars is supposed to be a nice guy...but no one ever questions the fact that he doesn't seem to have much respect for the woman he's currently in a relationship with.

I liked Wolf, too. Even Alex is okay--but I don't think we've seen Sophie with anyone that suits her yet.
