A WORD FROM NICK CHARLES

Dictated by Nick Charles, the feline half of the Nick and Nora mysteries by T. C. LoTempio

Meow!  I am Nick Charles, the handsome half of the sleuthing duo known as Nick and Nora Charles (not to be confused with that other Nick and Nora, you know, the ones from those fabulous old movies my human, Nora, likes to sit and watch!)   Although the other Nick Charles and I are both handsome dudes, I definitely prefer a saucer of warm milk to a martini!

I’ve been quite busy of late, helping my human out! Her sister, Lacey, found herself in a spot of trouble recently…she was accused of murdering her art professor!  Lacey’s a bit on the wild side, but a murderer?  Thank goodness I went along on the case.  I’m very good at getting Miss Nora out of tight squeezes, although not as good as she is getting into them!  (Speaking of tight squeezes…wait until you see the homicide detective on the case! And as it turns out, he’s got a bit of a past with my Nora…)

People wonder how I got my sleuthing abilities.  Well, all I can say is live with a PI for a year or two and you’re bound to pick something up, right? Especially a cool cat with smarts, meow!  I do miss Nick Atkins, my former human, though.  He found me one night in an alley – or did I find him? Anyway, if I ever see him again – which at this point is up for grabs – I’ll have to thank him. All those hours playing Scrabble seem to have paid off!

Time for my cat nap before our next adventure…being a detective is hard work!  But I’m up to the task…purrrrr…….uh oh, gotta run.  I see Chantal coming with some more of those pet collars she loves to try on me…….

Cat-ch up with Nick and Nora’s latest adventure in CLAWS FOR ALARM, which will be out November 3 from Berkley Prime Crime.  It can be pre-ordered now. Check www.tclotempio.com and www.catsbooksmorecats.blogspot.com for links!  You can also check out Nick and Nora’s first adventure, MEOW IF ITS MURDER.

About the Author…..
While Toni Lotempio does not commit – or solve – murders in real life, she has no trouble doing it on paper. Her lifelong love of mysteries began early on when she was introduced to her first Nancy Drew mystery at age 10 – The Secret in the Old Attic.  She (and ROCCO, albeit he’s uncredited) pen the Nick and Nora mystery series from Berkley Prime Crime – the first volume, MEOW IF ITS MURDER, debuted Dec. 2, 2014. Followed by #2, CLAWS FOR ALARM out November 3 of this year.   She, Rocco and company make their home in Clifton, New Jersey, just twenty minutes from the Big Apple – New York. Catch up with them at www.tclotempio.com and www.catsbooksmorecats.blogspot.com

  3. I enjoyed Nick's post--he's very well spoken! I always think it's interesting how people tend to remember their first Nancy Drew. Mine was Password to Larkspur Lane. Of course, I tend to hang out with a lot of people that like mysteries...

  4. Nick, you're our hero. Our human doesn't appreciate us batting at her hair and toes at night, but how is she going to find clues to murders if she's asleep? Cats rule. Meow.

  5. Nick and Nora are great, both the human ones and the kitty ones! The books sound great! So many books, so little time!

  6. ROCCO sez, Merow, it's true. Humans rarely appreciate what we do for them. When I try to groom my human she swats me away....

    1. The tongue is a little rough for non-furry partners, Rocco. Mr. Pickles here can make the same complaint about me.
