Oh Say Can You Fudge?

Hi, my name is Caramella and I'm a calico cat. It's a bit of a mystery where I've come from and I'm not telling. I kind of like it on Mackinac Island. The buildings are old with cool basements and nice corners. Some days there are lots of people on the streets. I've heard the humans call them fudgies. When things get too crowded, I like to hide up on the fire escape of the Historic McMurphy Hotel and Fudgeshop. From that view I can see the alley and the backs of the buildings on the other side.

There's a nice human who lives at the McMurphy. Her name is Allie and she's weird, but interesting. She acts funny every time she sees me. She claims it's because she never had a cat growing up and doesn't know how to act around me. As if figuring us cats out is any harder than figuring out humans. (Although I think we cats have a bit of an advantage in figuring stuff out. We are the smarter beast, after all.)

Besides Allie there is a dog. It is an overly friendly dog and at times I need to bat her on the nose to keep her in line. I do think we'll be friends, but only when I'm good and ready.

There is a lot going on with Allie and the McMurphy Hotel and Fudge Shop, but I'm confident that with my help things are going to be all right. At times, Allie isn't too sure, but that's because she's never had a cat before. She has a lot to learn, but I'm just the feline to teach her.

Did I mention murder? There's one of those as well. It's a cat and mouse game of who dunnit. We all know the cat wins in the end.

The book is out the end of this month - April 28th. Don't forget to preorder so you can read how I came to be a part of the McMurphy. Also, the writer is offering a giveaway of one free book. So comment below and tell us what your favorite pet is-hint: CAT. Or dog or bird or lizard, if you are so inclined. Although I think CAT might be a winning comment. That's my opinion, anyway. Good Luck!

  1. Sorry Carmella I hope you don't hold it against me but my favorite Pet is a Parrot. Although I do love Cats and Dogs and grew up with a Cat that turned on the taps to drink water named Beauty.

  3. I adore both cats and dogs. Right now we have a dog, and I keep saying she needs a friend (a little kitty) to play with and to keep her company.

  7. I read this to both my cats, Cleo and Isis. They both say "Hello", actually "Meow". (I translated for the human readers)
They wondered about the dog part, having never seen one, they were curious as to what it is. I tried to explain but they just stared
at me like, why would you want one of those.

  17. My favorite pet is a cat...winner!! My husband learned when we met that the cats were here first, and they had been my friends for a looooong time. Thankfully, he loves cats, too. He has brought several either to "clean up and find homes for" or "just feed and keep water out so they don't die from the heat (or chilly winter nights)". We do have a great time, currently have five "innies" with one outside that we feed when around - and he brings his very pregnant girlfriend. Uh oh. Looking forward to reading this next great mystery in the series - hoping Caramella and Mal become the best of friends, as a cat just makes everything better! jeaniedannheim (at) ymail (dot) com

  18. I am a crazy cat and book lady. Unfortunately our neighborhood knows it too as I often find abandoned kittens and cats on the property. At least they find a good home.

  22. I love all of God's creatures but due to my limitations, I have adopted a black cat named Romeo Luigi. He is part Siamese and meows loudly any time I am out of his sight. I also have a grand fur baby named Ralphie Lee. He is a orange tabby with Maine Coone mix boy. They are so much a part of our lives it would be lonely in our house without them.

  27. My six fur babies are all cats - William Shakespeare, Meshuganeh, Tootsie, Skipper, Pewter and Slinky. A perfect evening is reading in bed with one of Nancy's books and my kitties all around me purring.

  28. I an a100% dog person.
I love the Pembroke Corgi breed in particular. After all they are the Royal Breed.
My beloved Corgi, Shelby crossed over the Rainbow Bridge last November. I still miss her very much, especially in the mornings when the house is quiet. She was always with me as I drank my first cup of coffee. I hope to get another Corgi soon.
I enjoy this series very much and look forward to reading this new book.

  29. Dog person (minature Schnauzers) until left for college & took the last one with him. I was pet free for a year and rescued a grey kitten from black birds that dive bombing him. Took him to vet who bathed him. Turned out to be a white and orange her! Turkish Van. Cici (chicken cat) lived with me 19 years. We added Sassy when Cici was about 2. Sassy lived to be almost 18. Then tyler Rose, Webster, Maggie Mae, and Diego and his brother, Dewey. All were rescues and I have them now. So now 99% cat lover! Definitely in it for the purrs!
