Family and Friends Make Life Worth Living

Hi all, Grandma Ruth here from the Gluten-free Baker's Treat series. Let's start by saying, isn't that the cutest cover? I can tell you from personal experience that the coffee and gluten-free baked goods are the best.

That said, my granddaughter Toni is in a heck of a mess this time. She hasn't told anyone but the bakery is barely paying the bills. So she's ramped up her on-line holiday marketing campaigns, which means she's been baking round the clock-even sleeping in the bakery. Silly girl has too much pride. She has a sizable family just waiting to help out. All she has to do is ask.

But then the unthinkable happens. My grandson Tim, Toni's brother, is framed for murder. We all know that the local law enforcement crew is not exactly in a hurry to investigate what seems like an open and shut case. So I'm doing my level best to investigate, but I need Toni. She's the real star who can put together clues and handle the bad guys. But she's working night and day. It takes me a while, but I finally get her to understand that family comes first. That means her brother's well-being come first, but also, on the flip side, her bakery's well-being. In our family no man or woman is an island. What good is having a family, if you can't ask for help every once in a while?

The investigation is on and the holidays loom. Oh, and my sweet granddaughter finally decides she's going out on a date. What could make an old woman happier?

Now, let's dish. What's your favorite holiday cookie? There's a free book in the offering if you comment. And don't forget to order your copy today. Cheers~

  20. My family has made this cookie as long as I can remember; my grandmother made it, her sisters made it, my mother made it and now I make it. The cookie is an anise flavored rolled cookie that is decorated with icing. My oldest nephew dubbed them the "cookie cutter cookies," and we all tend to call them that now.

  23. My mother-in-law makes this chocolate coconut cookie every year. Most members of our family don't like coconut, but she knows I do. So she makes extra just for me. Lucky me to have a great mother-in-law.

  26. Oops, I forgot to mention my favorite cookie and that would be my shortbread cookies that have been made for almost 60 years. They are full of butter and awesome. We roll them in red or green crystalized sugar for Christmas and then at Easter we make them dipped in the pastel colored sugar. They are not very sweet so perfect anytime with tea or lemonade, etc.
    Thank you.
