You might not remember me . . .

Maybe you haven't met me yet, or if you have, you might not remember my name.  See, I don’t play that big a part in every book of the Soup Lover’s Mystery series.  But I do live in the village and I have an important role because I run Guy’s Auto Shop and without me, no one’s car would even start.  I think that’s a pretty important job.

I actually don’t make my first appearance until the second book in the series, A Broth of Betrayal, but I have a really nice part in that one.  Because of what happens there, my life takes an amazing turn.  Sadly because of a horrible event.  My boss, Harry Hodges, gets killed.  No fault of my own I might add.  I was home, minding my own business when it happened.  No way could I have known what was about to take place.  And it wasn’t even me who discovered his body.  Probably should have been if I had been paying attention, but I wasn’t.
The only thing I was thinkin’ about at the time was Rowena Nash.  I don’t know what it is about that girl, but every time she’s around I just go to pieces.  I think she’s really beautiful.  She has red hair and I’m a sucker for a redhead.  Well, don’t get me wrong, I really don’t have any experience with women or girls for that matter, but there’s something about Rowena that just leaves me breathless.  I’m tongue-tied and awkward and I try not to follow her around like a puppy dog but I know that I do.  I just can’t help myself.

See, I’m not the best looking guy in the world.  My teeth are kinda funny and when I was growing up, my parents couldn’t have afforded to do anything about them anyway.  So I don’t like to smile very much even though in general I’m a pretty happy guy.  So I know Rowena would never look at me twice.

I wish there were something I could do about it.  Lucky, that’s Lucky Jamieson who runs the By the Spoonful Soup Shop.  I like to talk to her whenever I stop in.  She really listens, not like some people who just write me off because I’m an auto mechanic and they think I’m not too bright, but not Lucky.  I can tell she really cares about people and she always listens to me.  She says I better keep my mouth shut about my inheritance from Harry.  I kinda suspect she doesn’t like Rowena.  She never says that, but she warned me to be quiet and look out for people who’d take advantage of me.

What do you think?  Do you think Rowena could really like me if she knew how much money and property I inherited from Harry?

  3. Oh hon, listen to Lucky. She's a young woman with her head screwed on right. If it takes money and property to woo Rowena, then you're better off without her. My two cents.

  4. I do remember you. And I do think Lucky is right and you should not say anything about your inheritance, at least not for a while. Let Rowena get to know you, the real you. Your inheritance should not make a difference if she is a good person.

    1. I'm just a little worried, though. Lucky didn't seem to like Rowena very much. I should probably take Lucky's advice until I know more.

  5. I agree with the other posters about Lucky's advice. Rowena should like you for you (not for the inheritance).

  6. Well, Guy, yeah, Rowena probably would really like you if she knew how much money and property you inherited from Harry, but maybe you could try to follow Lucky's advice and see if Rowena is smart enough to realize what a great guy you are and really like you for that.

It's always so nice to take another little trip to Snowflake! I don't realize I miss it until we get another little peek.
