I've been reading all about green tea and I have to say I don't like the stuff. It's bitter and tastes sort of tike, I don't know, bitter GRASS or something. But I do wan the supposed health benefits you get from drinking one cup of green tea a day. I figure I can manage that, if it's flavored with something else—mango, raspberry, mango. You get the point. Anything to hide the flavor.
Despite my best efforts, I can not drink the stuff. But I have been able to down it in my oatmeal. I'm not sure if it's giving me energy or what. Perhaps I'm so depleted that it's going to take some time to kick in. In the mean time, I have found that I enjoy it more when it's cold and mixed with other stuff. In fact, I stopped at tea shop and they served it like that. it was half Macha, half almond milk, (or soy or cow, what ever floats your boat), honey and cardamon. I've been trying to replicate it at home, but no such luck. When I do, I'll pass the recipe on to you. In the mean time, I'll just keep sprinkling in my oatmeal and waiting for that energy to descend on me! How about you? Do you drink green tea?

Yes, I do drink green tea (I don't consume carbonated drinks anymore). I haven't had the Machi brand of tea so I am not sure how that is different from regular green tea. To sweeten my green tea, I use stevia, D-Mannose, and honey.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting, Jen. I'm not sure what D-Mannose is--but I'm off to look it up! Cheers!
DeleteI only drink black tea. I seem to have problems with the other ones.
ReplyDeleteI love my black tea, too!
DeleteI'm not sure you can do anything to or with green tea to make it palatable. And don't even mention oatmeal in my hearing, unless it's in cookies. Cookies! Hmmmm.....
ReplyDeleteYes, I've seen it in cookies and in fudge!
ReplyDeleteI drink green tea every day.
ReplyDeleteMy granddaughter keeps trying to convince me to drink green tea. Just can't do it. Thanks for the giveaway.

I am with Sheila on this one... No green tea for me... Or tea of any kind as far as that goes.... Water, water and more water

I drink regular unsweetened iced tea almost daily, but I don't drink much green tea. My daughter encouraged me to order some iced green tea at the restaurant where she works. She doesn't drink it but she said the customers rave about it. Well, it tasted like green koolaid! (She neglected to tell me that it was sweetened.) So somehow I don't think I got the health benefits I expected from it. I figure, any tea is better than soda, so I'll stick to my plain old black iced tea (and hot peppermint tea with a bit of honey in the winter.) rencw@verizon.net
ReplyDeleteI've never tried green tea. I do drink black and peach tea, but I'm mostly a coffee person :)
