If the Dog Fits

Have you heard of Wagtail? It's all about cats and dogs. They can stay with you and eat in the restaurants and get massages with you! I've been itching to visit.
The time has come for my husband, Geoffrey, and me to adopt a new dog. They don't have a lot of strays in Wagtail, so wonderful volunteers go to neighboring counties to rescue dogs and cats who are about to get the, well, you know. It breaks me up just to think about it. I really love that they rescue these sweet babies and bring them to Wagtail to be adopted.
They have a new program called "If the Dog Fits." You get to pick a dog and then spend the weekend with the pup to see if you're a good fit. Isn't that wonderful? I signed us up for it as soon as I heard about it. I can't wait to meet our new dog.
Geof liked the idea and when he went to Wagtail online he found out that they're having a murder mystery weekend called Murder Most Howl. So, Geof and his brother and my sister-in-law and her best friend signed up for it. I'm much more interested in the dogs but those people are a fun group, so I think we'll have a ball. Hmm, maybe I should bring a ball for our new doggy. I can't wait!
Would you like to spend a weekend with a dog you wanted to adopt? Would you bring a ball? I don't know what to pack!

I think spending the weekend with a dog sounds delightful! I think a ball would be a great toy (my dog loves her balls and squeaky toys). Maybe a small bag of treats? I hope you have a great time!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen. Treats! I should have thought of that.
DeleteLove to spend the weekend or an entire week with a dog just to make sure the fur baby and I are a good match. I'd bring a ball, a chew toy, anything "doggie" with me. :D
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea. I'm really looking forward to it.
DeleteI've never met a dog I didn't like...
ReplyDeleteIt might be a good way for a new dog to get to know Tally-Ho and Sally-Forth!
DeleteI would love to spend a weekend in Wagtail with or without a dog, but a dog or cat would make it much more enjoyable. A toy, a comfy bed, and treats and they would be in heaven.
ReplyDeleteAnd going out to eat with them! I always feel guilty when we go out for a nice dinner and the poor dog has to stay home alone. I can't wait to take the new dog everywhere in Wagtail!
DeleteWhat a great idea! Spending time with humans to make sure they're a good fit can also be great for dogs.

Good point. What if the dog doesn't like us? Now I'm worried!
DeleteWagtail is even more wonderful with the new rescue program. I need to move there with my rescue Tyler. I think it is great that people and dog get to try each other out. Sounds amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI think it sounds like a wonderful way to get to know a new dog. Tyler would have a great time in Wagtail!
DeleteI can not wait!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe're going there very soon, Rachael! : )
DeleteI love the series. I love Wagtail.
ReplyDeleteThat's so nice to hear Annette!
DeleteI wish I could travel everywhere with my girls (kitties) but they are better at home with their pet sitter.
ReplyDeleteI had to read the GHOST AND MRS MEWER a bit early this Fall, and of course I LOVED IT. I can't wait for MURDER MOST HOWL and what it the next Domestic Diva?
Alas, until there's a real Wagtail, I agree that most kitties are happier at home with their sitters. I'm so glad you liked The Ghost and Mrs. Mewer. The next Domestic Diva book will be THE DIVA SERVES HIGH TEA. It should be out on June 7th. Thanks for asking, Margaret!
DeleteI love, love, love the idea
