Interesting Twist To My Story

by Carrie Kennersly, veterinary technician and owner of an adjoining barkery and bakery, whose adventures are memorialized in the Barkery & Biscuits Mysteries by Linda O. Johnston

Hi.  I've visited here a couple of times regarding my appearance in a mystery series, the Barkery & Biscuits Mysteries.  The last time was a while ago, right around the time the first one, BITE THE BISCUIT, was published.

If you recall, BITE THE BISCUIT is about how I became a murder suspect.  It involves the murder of Myra Ethman, wife of a member of one of Knobcone Heights' premier families, who made it clear when I opened my shops that she did not like the competition my Barkery provided to the pet store she'd bought for her husband to run.

It was a struggle to prove my innocence, especially since my time was already at a premium.  I had turned half of the people bakery I'd bought, Icing on the Cake, into Barkery and Biscuits, and I owned and ran both shops.  In addition, I've remained a veterinary technician, although now that career is part-time.  And I of course take good care of my own wonderful dog, Biscuit.

Anyway, that situation was memorialized BITE THE BISCUIT, and I recently learned that the book is a finalist in the fiction category for the Maxwell Awards by the Dog Writers Association of America.

I'm glad to hear that.  My stories are being memorialized by an experienced writer, Linda O. Johnston, and I think she is doing a credible job.  I also recognize that there is some excellent competition for that award so I don't know if my story will win--but if nothing else it should let even more people know about my bakery and barkery and how fun it is to visit their location, Knobcone Heights, California.  And to buy treats from both stores, of course.

I'm also told that another situation I found myself in--and, yes, it involved another murder--will be described in TO CATCH A TREAT, a book to be published in May of this year.

You may want to grab a copy of BITE THE BISCUIT to see why it's up for that award.  And as I said last time, while you're at it, why not grab a sweet for yourself and give your dog or cat a treat, too.

BITE THE BISCUIT, the first Barkery & Biscuits Mystery by Linda O. Johnston, was a May 2015 release from Midnight Ink.  And watch for the second in the series, TO CATCH A TREAT, coming in May 2016.

  1. Looks like a great series. Will have to put on my TBR. Am always looking for treats to make. We have a vet tech that likes to use our kitties as taste testers. Sure is convenient being near the animal hospital. Della

    1. Thanks, Not really. I'm more into dog treats than those for cats, but maybe I'd better expand my products one of these days. Glad you are near your animal hospital.
