by Hayley Snow from Lucy Burdette's Key West food critic mysteries
When I followed a guy to Key West a couple years ago, you could have filled an encyclopedia with what I didn't know about living on an island, especially this island. Lots of times visitors don't venture any further than the bars on Duval Street. But there's so much happening on the rest of our 2 x 4 mile rock. Real life, I'd call it, with all its complications and competition and sadness and lots of joy.
But during some times of the year, Key West is dominated by a big and crazy event. This week it's Fantasy Fest, a 10-day adult-themed costume party during which some folks behave in ways they would never consider at home.

And the restaurants are jammed with outsiders, so I wouldn't even consider my regular restaurant review column at Key Zest. Instead I'll be giving an insider look at where to get killer takeout. But I'm also supporting my friend Danielle, who has just won the crown for queen of Fantasy Fest. And my mother, who's finally marrying her adorable beau, Sam, on the beach at the end of the week.

I hope you'll enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed telling it! We're giving away a signed copy of KILLER TAKEOUT today to celebrate. All you have to do is share this post--on Facebook or Twitter or Pinterest, then leave your name and your email in the comments, and you'll be entered in the drawing.
KILLER TAKEOUT will be on bookshelves next Tuesday, April 5. You can order it wherever books are sold. And follow Lucy and the gang's Key West adventures on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.
