From a Land Far, Far Away...

As I write this, I am sitting on a terrace of a villa in the south of Spain, overlooking olive groves. In the distance, with heat shimmering, I can see the vineyards and cork forest belonging to the Paradisos, my late husband's family.

Why am I here? It's a long story, and one told elsewhere (Much Ado About Muffin - Berkley Prime Crime - August 2nd, 2016). I'm here on  a mission of mercy; I have fulfilled it, and yet... and yet... I linger. In Spain, of all places, in unremitting luxury. (I know, I know, what a tough life, right?)

Why am I still here? There is so much going on back in Autumn Vale and at my home, a real American castle, Wynter Castle. My friends are all there: my old friends Pish and Shilo, and my new Autumn Vale friends, Hannah, Binny, Doc, Gogi, Janice and Simon, Lizzy, Emerald... I miss them all.

And Virgil... oh, Virgil! Six feet of dark handsome sheriff, so sexy he makes my toes curl when he kisses me. Aha... is there something there, some reason I'm cloistering myself in my late husband's villa in Spain when across the ocean is a man who wants me, and who is very much alive?

Maybe I need to think about this, but fast... I'm stuck in one place, mourning a man who has been gone for more than eight years, afraid to move forward.... I feel like my life in Autumn Vale and at Wynter Castle is slipping away in the hot wind that flows up this hillside from the cork forest and olive groves.

  1. You need to go back. Your friends miss you. You need to move forward, not backwards. You can't live in the past.

  4. Of coarse I have this book on preorder. This is one of my very favorite series. I love the idea of a real castle in upstate New York. Merry Wynter is a wonderfully rich character to read about. I know the future of cozy mysteries is in jeopardy at the presenttime. But I sure hope this series is here for a while longer.
