I'm smitten!

That’s what I am.  I can’t take my eyes off of her.  What a beautiful woman!  And I can’t believe this is happening to me.  I mean, I’m an old dog.  An OLD dog, but this woman, Nanette, just takes my breath away.  From the first time she walked into the soup shop and asked for a job.

Whenever she’s around, my face gets all pink and I stutter and I’m just not used to these feelings anymore, not since I was real young and I met my wife, God rest her soul.  She was a wonderful woman and I miss her every day, but well . . . life goes on.  I’m still here, which is pretty strange because I always thought I’d pass on before her.

Did I ever think of getting married again?  Oh, no, never crossed my mind.  Not till I met Nanette.  I mean I don’t know if I’m really thinking about that, not yet, but I’ve been sort of knocked off my feet.

Lucky doesn’t like her though.  I can tell.  I can see the expression on her face when Nanette’s around and I’m wondering if there’s a little bit of animosity between my granddaughter and Nanette.  But I’m sure that can all be worked out.  Lucky will understand.  I’m sure she will.   Although she was pretty shocked when I told her I had a date.  Her jaw dropped open.
Maybe she thinks I’m too old, but Nanette doesn’t think so.  She’s made it real plain she admires me and she’s attracted to me.  She told me she thinks I’m a real man.
I just wish I could stop blushing when she’s around.  I’m thinkin’ this could get real serious.  What do you think?  Am I too old to fall in love?

    1. Hi Sally- What do you think? Is Jack an old fool? Does someone need to knock some sense into his head?

    2. Hi Connie,
It's good to see Jack wanting to move forward a bit, but seems like once he's made up his mind he isn't open to any comments or questions and is downright cranky about it. So yes, I'd say he needs a little sense knocked into him. Lucky seems more than ready to do that.

    3. LOL! She did try, Sally, but he was having none of it. Jack does change his mind though, when all is revealed!

  3. Not too old, but is there something not quite right about Nanette?

  4. I just love this series, for so many reasons. Jack is one of those reasons. He is such an interesting man.

    1. Hi Annette - I think Jack's probably my favorite character too. I love Lucky and Sage and all the others, but Jack is very special! He gets himself into a little hot water in A Clue in the Stew, but Lucky's looking out for him.
