Basket Heaven

I'm so excited about our wildcrafting retreat--coming right up! Jane, Ruby, and I took a trip to Cherokee, N.C. and went to the museum there in preparation for this retreat. We're very much looking forward to learning about traditional basket making with Marianne Wolfe. She's an internationally known basket maker and we're so lucky that we've gotten her to come to our second retreat at Kildare House.

Evidently the Cherokee have their very own methods of making baskets—how cool is that?

We also went to a little historical reenactment village, which was also a great deal of fun. But the Museum of the Cherokee was AMAZING. I learned so much and the exhibits were wonderfully rendered.

I took some photos of the baskets and basket makers we saw. Enjoy!

  1. Such lovely pictures. I have always been drawn to baskets....I have a ton around my house. I think there is something about the beauty of the craft. Thanks again for the terrific pictures.
