Summertime leisure time!

by J.J. Tanner from the Dinner Club Mysteries by Linda Wiken

It must really be summer. Last night I went to a movie with some girlfriends, something I rarely seem to have the time to do all the rest of the year but really enjoy doing. We had a blast and it's something I could easily get used to doing.

So, I'm making a list of movies. And that's after making my TBR pile of summertime reading. I've layered cozy mysteries with mainstream beach reads but I'm going to try to keep the movies on the lighter side.

Last night's movie, The Hero doesn't qualify as light but I was glad I'd seen this poignant story staring one of the sexiest older men I can think of, Sam Elliot. Love his voice.

The book I've just finished is Vinegar Girl by Anne Tyler. Not really what I'd classify as a beach read but a delightful contemporary take on Shakespeare's The Taming of The Shrew. I hear that's a new trend so I'll look for others to add to my pile.

What's up next? It's a mystery. Same with the movie.

What do you enjoy seeing and reading in the summer?

  1. My daughter and I read and enjoyed the first book together. She loves to read aloud to me. Now we can read this second one together.
