I panicked, okay? How could I not? What would you do if you thought an intruder was breaking into your home in the middle of the night? And your safety and your family’s safety was at stake?
I can’t even remember what I was thinking at the time. I just reacted in a blind panic. I never meant to fire my gun. I only had it with me for protection, to scare away anyone who might have broken into my home. But before I knew what was happening, I heard the gunshots. I felt the bullet hitting the wall behind me and I fired my gun in response. And now it looks like my life as I knew it is over. I'm just another statistic, a guy who killed someone by mistake.
I’m Rob Ramer. I’m a responsible man, a respected member of the Bar, a well-regarded member of the community. I’ve never committed a crime. Never! I don’t even have an unpaid parking ticket. In fact, I don’t even get parking tickets. That’s how careful and respectful of the law that I am.
I love my wife. I love my little daughter. Hell, I even love my dog. How could anyone think this killing was premeditated?
And I suspect no one believes me, not even the police, maybe
not even my wife. And as far as her
family goes . . . well, the less said, the better.
Why won’t anyone take my word?
You believe me, don’t you? Please tell me you believe me.
