The Last Lazy Days of Summer

By Bea Cartwright from Kylie Logan’s League of Literary Ladies mysteries

How can it even be possible?

September?

Here on South Bass Island, it seems like we just started celebrating the summer, and now, the light is fading fast in the evening and the breezes pouring over Lake Erie from Canada hold the promise of chilly nights and crisp days, hot cider and pumpkin pie.

I’ve been busy here at Bea & Bees, my island bed and breakfast.  At least lately.  Earlier this year, things were a little touch and go.  There were rumors circulating around the island about things like health code violations (bed bugs–yuck!), and my mysterious past, and business slowed down, then stopped altogether.  Fortunately, the League of Literary Ladies got that cleared up along with a baffling murder in town.  With all that out of the way, I’m back to enjoying the last, lazy days of summer here on the Key West of the Great Lakes.

How about you?

How did you spend your summer?
