I have to tell you, I’m not all that pleased with the greeting I got from my sister, Tally, when I called to tell her I was coming to Fredericksburg to see her. I’ve heard so much about her vintage sweet shop, Olde Tyme Sweets, I had to take a look.
Well, no, I hadn’t given her warning, but can’t a brother drop in on his sister out of the blue? I had to be in Texas anyway and I’ll bet she’d be mad if she knew I was there and didn’t see her. I’m seriously jet lagged and need a place to crash for a few days. To be honest, it wasn’t so much my showing up unannounced that got me the cold shoulder. I think she just doesn’t want to take care of my cat.
Yes, I am dumping Nigel on her. My vagabond life style isn’t conducive to having pets. And no, she doesn’t like cats. At least that’s what she says. I think she’ll get over it, though. Nigel is a big sweetheart. And I mean big! He’s even big for his breed, Maine Coon. She’ll warm up to him. She likes her independence, but cats aren’t much trouble, right?
Oh, by the way, don’t tell her that I’m planning on him moving in with her permanently. I have to go about this gradually. We’ll win her over, I’m sure, but right now she’s not thrilled with the idea of suddenly having a pet.
