Oh, What a Christmas!

by Arabella Andrews from the Sweet Nothings Series by Meg London.

What a wonderful Christmas this has been! My niece, Emma, is now here in Paris, Tennessee with me, and her parents came up from Florida to join us. I haven’t seen my sister, Maribel, in ages, and it was wonderful to be together again!

Everyone was focused on Emma and Brian. We knew he had something special for her, but we weren’t sure what it was going to be. I’m sure more than one of us had images of sparkly things!

What a feast we enjoyed! A delicious pan of cheese grits, beef tenderloin with bĂ©arnaise sauce, twice baked potatoes and fresh peas. Best of all was sharing it with friends and family—Emma, her parents, Brian and his sister Liz and her husband Matt and their beautiful children Alice and Ben. Our friend Sylvia Brodsky joined us as well and brought some delicious Russian caviar to add to our feast.

It was so sweet because, as I’ve already said, we expected Brian to have something very important for Emma. But we really should have realized that they’ve only been seeing each other for a short time. So Brian’s gift was absolutely perfect—the most adorable bundle of fur named Baby Doll—the cutest kitten you’ve ever seen!

As I said, the most perfect Christmas ever! And we’re all quite positive that next Christmas, Brian and Emma…well, I’m sure you can guess what we’re hoping for!`

  1. A kitten for Christmas... how puuuurrrfect!!! Wonderful... glad you all had such a good day.

  2. Did she climb the Christmas tree like my kitten?

  3. And pounce on ribbons, wrapping paper and emptied boxes?

  4. Well, of course, all of those things! That's what kittens are for! Then she curled in a tiny, furry ball and slept on Emma's lap during dinner.

  5. Maybe some year Emma will have a Christmas without having to search for ornaments on the floor, in the corners and under the sofa. Maybe not. What a wonderful gift though!
