Jaymie, here. I look forward to spring and summer all winter long, and I know I'm not alone. Everybody in Queensville does. We are kind of a sleepy little town in winter, but it's like we wake up some time around March 21st, and shake off the lethargy and get growing! But this spring has been slow getting started. Then I woke up this morning to a dusting of snow on the ground!
Bummer.
So I decided to think spring and really focus all my mental energy, such as it is, on getting the season going. To that end, here are my Top Five Reasons I Like Spring!
5 - No more toques, mitts, boots, coats, gloves, scarves, cold feet, cold hands, wintry winds and misery!

3 - It's almost strawberry season! Is there any more luscious berry than strawberry? And we only get them in late spring.
2 - Pretty snowdrops, squill, daffodils, jonquils, tulips, crocuses, and fragrant hyacinths! I do love spring flowers.
1 - The smell of lilacs in the rain... is there any better scent? My neighbor has a lovely mauve lilac bush - really old and heavily laden - and early May is so wonderful... after it rains I step out the back door and take in a deep breath, just inhale a lungful of spring!
I leave you with this poem taught to me by my grandmother...
Spring has sprung,
The grass has riz,
I wonder where,
The birdies iz?
So poetic!! LOL! So... what do you look forward to in spring? And if you live somewhere nice and warm all year long, do you at least envy us our snowy winters? (I'm laughing at myself even now!) How is YOUR weather today?

The frost this morning sparkled like diamonds. *Now* aren't all you people who live in warm places envious?
ReplyDeleteThere is no brighter sunshine then those first days of Spring.
ReplyDeleteI love winter, and spring here fills me with dread because it comes laden with deadly and harmful thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hailstorms. It also ushers in a breathtakingly hot, humid summer. But it also gives us days like Edna's, with morning frost sparkling like diamonds on every tiny violet in the grass, and the ethereal beauty of redbud. AND, it gives us days that are warm enough, now and then, to allow me to wear my favorite long floating skirts, tank tops, and flipflops!
ReplyDeleteAND strawberries. Don't they just taste like spring?
