Keeping Tabs on Teensy

by Lizzie Turner, from the Ashton Corners Book Club Mysteries by Erika Chase

That Teensy! Just when you think she’s settle down in her life and spending her days writing, she up and starts a new project. Like this creative writing class she’s teaching. Of course, it’s right up her alley. She’s such a dynamic personality and able to bring her enthusiasm for the written word to each session. I think anyone who takes her class is very lucky.

Of course, she does have her own unique writing style.  I remember when we first met, last summer when she’d moved back to Ashton Corners after being away for so long. Her first book had just been published and when asked to describe it, she called it a contemporary ‘Gone With the Wind’. Without the war, of course, but set in the South and seething. Think hot and steamy. That’s what she substituted.

Now, you’ve got to know Teensy Coldicutt to appreciate this totally. Somewhere in her seventies, a full-bodied lady with a passion for fashion, and candid as the day is long. We all love her to pieces and are especially thankful that she’s come back into her good friend Molly Mathews’s life. And, because of the Ashton Corners Mystery Readers and Cheese Straws Society, our lives also.

So, Teensy’s newest book is another romance but she’s hinting at a mystery lying in its depths. I guess we’ll just have to wait for it to come out. Another book launch! We’re getting good at hosting all things bookish. I can hardly wait. And also, I wonder what her next project will be.

What’s your next project? Are you a writer, a quilter, an artist, a bridge fanatic? What’s your passion?

  1. I'm going to ask my friend Naomi to help me make a quilt from some of the machine embroidery samples I've made. Okay, maybe ten quilts...

  2. I have started coloring digital stamps with Copic markers, and I hope to learn to color with polychromos pencils. I have projects(aka lessons) set up for both of them.

  3. My passion has been pretty much books. I used to have to itemize EVERYTHING I bought, even after buying groceries, in columns in the expenses book. We wanted to keep track of how we spent our money. It was time-consuming but it did show where we needed to cut back and where we were doing good. But back in those days, I sometimes would sneak a book into my groceries and it would just show up on the receipt as a grocery item. I just needed my book fix once in a while!
