A New Year, so what's new?

By Lizzie Turner from the Ashton Corners Book Club Mysteries
                             by Erika Chase

So, a brand new year and those of us in the Ashton Corners Book Club Mysteries have got to learn to share time with a whole new gang. Our author is going rogue on us. She’s writing another series called the Dinner Club Mysteries, and she’s using her real name. Linda Wiken. Can you believe it!

So, we were talking this over at our December meeting of the Ashton Corners Mystery Readers and Cheese Straws Society, actually it was more a Christmas party than a regular meeting, and we’ve decided  to reserve judgement until we read about these new sleuths. But we’ll have to wait until this July. That’s when the first book, Toasting Up Trouble, comes out. I can hardly wait to read all about them.

From what I can gather, it’s sort of a cookbook club but it’s more a dinner club. They get together to choose a cookbook and that month’s host gets to choose the main course. The others in the club bring the other dishes, also from that cookbook. There are five in the dinner club but the ring leader seems to be someone called J.J. Tanner. She’s an event planner by day, cookbook addict by night. But get this – she mainly likes to look through them. How she ever got into a dinner club, I don’t know. But I’ll find out in July.

We really all very supportive of our author’s new venture. We know she’ll still be talking us up, especially the latest book, Law and Author, at the various mystery conferences she’s going to this winter and spring. And, we’ll be happy to share the question period at those panels. But right now, it’s a mystery.

And you know how the Ashton Corners Mystery Readers and Cheese Straws Society loves a good mystery!

I won’t ask you to choose, but mystery books….cookbooks….hmmm.

Look for A KILLER READ,  (#2 on the Barnes and Noble Mystery Bestseller List and an Agatha Award nominee for Best First Mystery),  READ AND BURIED, COVER STORY, and BOOK FAIR AND FOUL on-line or at your favorite bookstore.
