Book 1 Title: Death Among the DoiliesOne of the reasons I’m here in Indigo Gap is that I changed my life. I was a social worker in Pittsburgh who figured out that wasn’t where I was meant to be. I also figured out the how healing crafting was for me—and for the woman I helped. I started a blog detailing some of the ways in which crafting helped the women I worked with and it became so successful that I was earning more money with my blog than as a social worker. (Crazy, right??) So, between my blog and my realization that social work just was not for me, I redirected my efforts into building a craft retreat with my friend Jane. So here we are in a newly refurbished Victorian estate. A dream come true!
One of the features on my blog is round-ups
of interesting crafty stories or projects. So today I’m giving you a round up—along
with giveaway a copy of Death Among the Doilies. Please just comment and I’ll
select a winner randomly.
Here’s a nugget on how crafting helps mental health.
Here’s a whole blog dedicated to healing through handcrafting.
Now, I live in Indigo Gap, North Carolina and we have a
proud history of indigo dye and fabric making. I ran across this blog post
about a new finding of what is probably the earliest evidence of indigo dye.
Fascinating!
Are you crafting for the holidays? If so, check our this
