Christmas is coming... I can feel it in the crisp air, the snow on the ground, and the night-time quiet descending on Wynter Castle. And I see it in the excited eyes of a certain teenage friend (Lizzie, of course) who has been hinting about Christmas gifts for a while, all camera related, of course. Shilo is even easier; something homemade, like food! Women/girls are so easy to shop for. Shopping for men is a whole 'nother ballgame unless they are as elegant as my best friend Pish, who I buy grooming products for every year. But Virgil... sigh. I've been looking around for the perfect gift for Virgil; he's soooo tough to buy for! He doesn't want much, and anything he does want or need, he buys for himself.
So I'll probably get him clothes. He's a goodlooking guy but lately he's looking a little spiffier, if I do say so myself, since I started helping him shop.

So I've been thinking about other things more lately. Christmas will soon be over, and we move ahead to a brand new year. And I'm making a resolution. (it's not too early for New Year resolutions, is it?) I'm going to try, this year, to find ways to contribute to peace on earth... not just in our country, but in the world. I'm not sure how yet. Do any of you have ideas? How one person can help promote peace on earth?
I would truly be interested in what you all think.
I'm so excited to show off the next cover in the Merry Muffin Mystery series... so here is the cover for next summer's release, Muffin To Fear!
Peace on "earth" is a tall order but I guess one place to start is just by being kind to co workers, neighbors and friends. I know it can be hard because some times those are the people who do us wrong.
ReplyDeleteAdorable new cover! Congratulations!! Peace on earth starts with me and being peaceful in my heart. Not letting the small things bug me. I can only control me and how I make my life more peaceful <3 Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great post. Peace is hard to find but I shall continue to seek it.

ReplyDeletethe best way individuals can contribute to peace
ReplyDeleteis to not cause any disruption (make racist slurs,
etc). Good luck with your goal of world peace.

I believe if each of us do 3 things, it will spread like the rings in a pool after a pebble is thrown in.
ReplyDelete1. Be courteous to everyone and smile while you are being courteous
2. Practice keeping quiet - just cause you heard something does not mean you have to repeat it - it may not be true and if it is ugly or judgmental no one needs to hear that
3. Start looking at people with kindness - yes - there are people it is very difficult to be kind to but those are the ones who need it the most
Now I don't think any of these things are magic - but I do believe that slowly we can improve where we are and eventually it will spread. I would like to believe that as human beings we can all remember that we share the planet with other people so we might as well learn to get along with them

I think peace on earth starts with each one of us---we need to be nice to others and all living creatures.

The older I get, the more I realize that spending time with family is more important than the gifts. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

ReplyDeleteSeeking peace through giving joy.
ReplyDeletePeace starts at home and spreads outward from there. Give yourself peace, and it spreads to your husband, children, friends. Then they spread it, and it continues. Sharon, catwoman-1(at)comcast(dot)net
ReplyDeleteI would love peace on earth, but I'll do my little tiny part and try to be nice to everyone.

"That which is hateful to you, you shall not do to other people." As one person does that, the ripples can flow outward. cheers at MarjimManor dot com
ReplyDeleteHi everyone... thank you so much for your thoughtful answers. I, personally, believe that we can affect change toward peace on earth by the way we think, speak and act. I'm going to seek out charities that act globally this year, to help with education around the world. I think education is one important component of world peace.
ReplyDeleteMany of you have left email addresses... please note that our month of giveaways is over. Thank you all for entering, and we'll be back with our holiday giveaway next year! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
New Cover is GREAT! We can promote peace on earth by taking a deep breath and responding kindly to hurtful words. (that always trows them off).

Peace on earth, one person at a time and smile. You never know who's heavy day you may lift by doing that. And if you are a praying person, lift those people up into the Lords loving embrace. A good place to start. jluebke@frontier.com
ReplyDeleteI don't think that peace on earth will ever be entirely possible but peace with my neighbor, peace with my family and most importantly, peace within myself, are the first steps.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas & Happy New Year!
