Hi there, I’m Savannah Webb, owner of Webb’s Glass Shop on Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, Florida. I'm in the kitchen preparing for an 'at home' party. My mother held them on Christmas Eve for her friends and family. The tradition is simple. If you had known her in any way during the previous year, an invitation would arrive asking you to stop by between 1 PM and 7 PM for snacks and cocktails. Mostly it was to make sure she kept in touch with her large circle of friends.

Since my dad is also gone this year, it's up to me to carry on the tradition of an open house. I'm going to serve finger foods and my boyfriend Edward is going to bring some of the specialty foods from QueensHead Pub. Namely, the crispy chickpeas and the Thai shrimp. I'm making cheesy toast and individual peanut butter pies. There will be Craft Beer from 3 Daughters Brewing and my special champagne and cranberry juice mixture which is called a Hibiscus.

My friend Amanda, who runs Webb's Glass Shop with increasing skill, will be here with a rum cake and my apprentice Jacob will be bringing a vegetable platter with blue cheese dip. Of course, you're welcome to add to the table. Please stop by to visit with me and my friends. There will be good conversation, good food and good drink. 

I'm grateful beyond words for the support my friends have given me during the first year of owning Webb's Glass Shop. In tribute to this meaningful holiday, I wish you PEACE.
