Mmmhmmm. Now Roxy finding Alexis Roarke murdered is just hearsay because I haven't really talked to her, but I heard it from Crissy down at the Honey Comb Salon. She'd know because she and Roxy were friends twelve years ago.
It seems so long ago, but it ain't. Roxy hasn't been back to Honey Springs in twelve years, but the two of them, Crissy and Roxy, they picked up like no time had passed. You know, we do that in small towns.
Oh, yeah. The police station. Here, have a honey doughnut with that coffee. Lips smackin' good I'm telling you. You'll be back for more.
Anyways, Roxy's Aunt Maxi and Alexis Roarke really don't get along too well. Didn't get along, that is. In fact, they'd just had a public spat yesterday. Roxy went down to The Crooked Cat Book Store, Alexis's store, to offer what I'd call a peace offering in the form of a cup of coffee and doughnut. This is where is gets good.
Alexis. Dead. Murdered. Not only that, but BANNED was stamped on her forehead. You know, Alexis used that stamp on the banned books in The Crooked Cats' banned book section. Mmmhhhhmmm.
Now that's just hearsay. Though I do know that Roxy is down at the police station trying to get her Aunt Maxi out of some kind of hot water. After all, just a few months ago before Roxy moved back to Honey Springs, she was one of them fancy lawyers.
Mmmhmmmm. Nothin' like this has happened in Honey Springs. . .ever.
Now, you come on back. Remember that around these parts, the gossip is just as hot as the coffee. Toodles!

ReplyDeleteSounds really interesting. I would love to read it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a Great Book. Thanks for the giveaway. iamabho (at) gmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteThe recipes in the books I read is the reason I gained 25 lbs last year! I was GF for a few years prior so I would "fudge" the recipes for my needs, but at the beginning of last year I stopped being GF as it wasn't helping with some of my problems and I wanted to taste real comfort food again...here I am a lot heavier. This year I started slowly taking the weight back off, six pounds is much easier to gain than to lose. =/ Anyway, I love your books and still love trying the recipes with some modification and portion control...ugh. Thank goodness coffee is not my caloric enemy.... I'd die without it.
ReplyDeletekonecny7(at)gmail(dot)com
love recipes in books..just something extra to love..can't wait to get to read..

I love culinary cozies. I always read the recipes even though I never make them. Unfortunately I have a family of very picky eaters and new recipes scare them.
ReplyDeleteI'm eager to dig into this book, it feels like I've had it on pre-order forever.

I love cozies with recipes, but I have never made them. I am a recipe/cookbook hoarder.
ReplyDeleteI have already pre-ordered the book!
I love recipes anywhere I find them and love them in cozies!
ReplyDeleteI love the tote and measuring spoon! Super cute!! I would use the tote for work to bring things bk and forth from home bc I'm a teacher and you know how we love those totes!
ReplyDeleteI'd use the measuring spoon for all the GF recipes bc I have Celiac Disease. The GF recipes add variety to my diet...thx! Cheesecake...yum!!
Ok...I'm lying. I'd probably put the tote on display in my classroom and tell everyone my famous author friend Tonya gave it to me. Hehehe! think your books are great! :-) tarafarah7(at)gmail(dot)com
I love to read the recipes in cozies and yes, I have been known to try them and to buy the cookbooks from the cozies. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeletesallycootie(at)gmail(dot)com
I find recipes within a book are acceptable and yes I would try them. But when a recipe is just put in it for no reason isn't acceptable. I submitted several that have been used in Kathi Daley's books and it is great to be able to say I am in a book. lol! robeader53@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI always have the best intentions of trying them, but never seem to get around to it. Love the books though, and the option is always there.
ReplyDeleteI love recipes in cozies. I have not made them but I want to! a_stonecipher@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed your books previously, Tonya, but I know for sure t5hat I will love this new mystery series so much. I was in a bookclub until just recently, but the group didn't like to read mysteries as much as I did, so some years we only read ONE mystery, the one I chose, which was not enough for me. I love discussing mysteries as much as reading them so now I just read at home and read almost all mysteries exclusively. Best of luck with everything. And I do like to see recipes in books and do make some of them as well. Thank you. Cynthia B. ceblain AT tmlponline DOT net
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading recipes & have some marked to try. Thanks for the giveaway! doward1952(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI love recipes in the cozies. I was reading a cozy and I mentioned to my husband that it sounded good and he looked at the recipe and made it. We emailed the author and she also made it like us and she also liked the way we made it so it was a wonderful outcome. I just love your article and thank you for the chance love reading and reviewing on a few sites.
ReplyDeleteOH Wow do I love cozies with a recipe. And the cheesecake in this recipe is my VERY next recipe to try! Next to chocolate, cheesecake is my downfall. I preordered the book the minute it was available for pre-order....now I am waiting patiently for it to show up in my kindle! All of Tonya Knappes series are fantastic! Merry

I LOVE recipes with cozies, the Gluten free cheesecake looks AWESOME. I'm not allowing myself that good stuff till 50 more pounds go but at least reading the stories & recipes doesn't put weight on. Looking forward to reading Scene of the Grind!
ReplyDeleteI love having cozies with recipes. I've copied many of them down, but haven't made any yet. {Actually I don't do the cooking, hubby does. One of these days though.} This cheese cake sounds easy to make, and sounds like it will taste good too. Hubby likes cheese cake so I might just have to dust off my apron and try making it.

Hi. Thanks for the giveaway! I love recipes in books. I do make some of them. I actually make a point to try one recipe, (sometimes more), from every book I read that has recipes in them. I have tasted a lot of food I might not have this way. Most of them have been tasty, tasty. Occasionally I tried something that I did not care for but a family member has. I add those to possible recipes for their birthday menu lol. I have also found some that have became favorites. Your cheesecake recipe was so easy and was definitely tasty, tasty. I am planning to make it again changing the flavorings. I am so excited for the release of Scene of the Grind! It is one of those books you just know is going to be a hoot! I read this out loud to my guy. He said thanks for the heads up on the characters. Now when I start telling him about Bunny or Roxy he won't be sitting there trying to figure out who I am talking about. Haha. Poor man never knows if I am talking about books or neighbors. He said it will be a relief to remember there wasn't a body in a local book store. Haha. He wears sarcasm well but I do tend to talk about characters like they are real. Thanks again! Frances cristinaalaska(at)gmail(dot)com
