Another Saturday Night (and I ain’t got nobody)

A Day in the Life Devereaux Sinclair by Denise Swanson

Hi! Dev here.

Easter is over and my business Devereaux’s Dime Store and Gift Baskets is overflowing with summer items. Too bad it’s been rainy and cold here in Shadow Bend, Missouri and no one is in a summery mood.

Speaking of not in the mood, wouldn’t you think that since I’m seeing two guys, I wouldn’t have to spend my Saturday nights binge watching Orange is the New Black? Not to mention that pint of Ben and Jerry’s Chunky Monkey that I ate.

I was supposed to attend a country club dance with Noah, but his mother’s rehab facility called to tell him she was missing. You would think they could keep track of a woman her age. If I was a nice person, I’d be worried about her, but my guess is that she bribed someone to bring her a bottle of booze and is hiding somewhere having her own private party.

I probably could have called Jake, but it seemed a little sleazy. At first dating two men seemed sort of cool. I’d never been what you could call popular and it was great for my self-esteem.

But now, it just feels wrong. It’s not fair to any of us and I’ve promised to make up my mind Halloween. If only the folks in Shadow Bend would quit being murdered, I’d have the time to make a decision.

You can find out who Dev chooses in Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh, My! The sixth book in the Devereaux’s Dime Store, a humorous romantic mystery series, is available for pre-order now.

-New York Times bestselling author Denise Swanson writes the Scumble River, Devereaux’s Dime Store, and coming soon the Chef-to-Go mysteries. She also writes the Change of Heart and Delicious Love romances.

  1. Ms Swanson has created a wonderful place to shop and people watch and listen to what is happening in town. This is such a fun series and the characters are very interesting but unusual people. Thanks for the heads up on the upcoming decision.

    1. Thanks so much, Annette!
