I told Lucky about it in A Clue in the Stew, well, she guessed anyway, but I was so scared,
I wasn’t able to even talk about it.
I just never really thought it would happen. It’s not like we, me and my husband (and I
still can’t get used to saying the word ‘husband’) didn’t want a family. We did, we really did. I just never imagined how the news would hit
me.

Oh, yeah, baby names.
If it’s a girl, I want to name her Letitia, after my best friend
Lucky. But she said if I stuck a little
girl with that old fashioned name, she’d hit me over the head with a frying
pan. There’s one thing Sage and I agree
on, if it’s a boy, we’ll name him after Sage’s brother, René. I think that would be really neat, plus it’s
a cool name.

I don’t know what to do!
HELP! Help me pick a name!

I'm going to have to side with Sage on the baby name debate. Juliette, Elizabeth, and Laura are all lovely choices. And I love the name Rene for a boy! Sorry I can't help more; I've only ever had to name cats! mbradeen@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteHi Marla - Cats count! Dogs too, and lots of people use human names for dogs! Good luck in the giveaway.
DeleteMy daughter is pregnant, due on the 20th. She is naming her baby Kane.
ReplyDeletedebby236 at gmail dot com
Congratulations, Debby!!! How wonderful! And I like that name. Thanks for stopping by today!
DeleteI like Rebecca, Elizabeth, or Laura. All are good names. Love this series. mcastor07@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa - Thanks so much! And best of luck today too!
DeleteI think Zoe is cute girls name.
ReplyDeletexzjh04(at)gmail.com
I like that name too, Kiki. It's become more popular in recent years, but still not a name you hear every day. Good luck today!
DeleteLove to read any of these but especially The Madness of Mercury.
ReplyDeleteIf I had a daughter we were going to name her Avalon Skye. Perfectly mystical. ;-)
Thanks for the chance. lady(dot)janel(at)hotmail(dot)com
Hi Janel - I like your name too! I'll note that you'd like The Madness of Mercury. The second book in the Zodiacs will be out soon. I'm looking forward to it!
DeleteLove your books. The names are special. Nadine, Miriam. saubleb(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you here today! I like those names too! Best of luck in the giveaways Sharon!
DeleteEnjoyed your post greatly. I love classic names like April, Diane, Esther for biblical. Thanks for your lovely giveaway. elliotbencan(at)hotmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI always loved the name Esther. Another name I liked was Enid, apparently it's Old Welsh and means "dear soul." Isn't that a lovely meaning?
DeleteThe process of trying to choose a name for a new baby is stressful. My advice to the character is to not overthink it too much. Thank you so much for the chance to win!!
ReplyDeletemagicgirl2357@yahoo.com
Hi Abby - You're right. I think when the time comes, the perfect name is obvious. Good luck to you!
DeleteOh both of these series sound great. Baby names...a favorite aunt or uncle or grandparent? Someone you admire? Lots of choices to make. Thank you for the chance. Sharon catwoman-1(at)Comcast(dot)net.
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon- Names really do go in waves through time, both boys' and girls' names. And as an author, it's hard to choose characters' names too! Best of luck today!
DeleteI love coming up with baby names! We picked my oldest child's name from a tv show that we both enjoyed. I would agree not to stress over picking a name to much. The right name will come to you. acate9(at)utk(dot)edu
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely right. I totally agree. I used to have a baby names book that was fascinating to read! Good luck in the giveaway!
DeleteNames seem like such a responsibility. After all, the kid is stuck with it forever!
ReplyDeletelibbydodd at comcast dot net
Hi Libby - When I told my daughter some of the names I had been considering before she was born, she screamed. She didn't like any of them, but I'm glad she's happy with what I did pick!
DeleteI love the name Juliette. That's my daughter's favorite. My granddaughter is Elizabetta Sophia and my daughter's friend named her youngest Gwen. Good luck with those names.
ReplyDeleteMeg85242 at gmail dot com.
Juliette is absolutely beautiful, so is Elizabetta and Sophia, not names you hear all the time. Julia is the name of my protagonist in the Zodiac Mysteries, and I liked it so much I just had to name her that!
DeleteI'm very partial to Emma, but also love Meredith, and if you want something to kind of tie in with Sage, how about Willow? Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy of one of your books! bobandcelia@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteWow! Willow is very unusual and lovely too! Best of luck today, Celia!
DeleteWhy not use a biblical name and a name your husband chooses ? You both win. My mom let her mom name me,she named me Yvonne Elizabeth after Yvonne Decarlo and Elizabeth Taylor. Lol my grandpa didn't like it and always called me Diane.
ReplyDeleteDiane? That must have been confusing! I guess that was his choice, right? But Yvonne Elizabeth is a great name! Good luck today!
DeleteBaby names can be tricky. I think you'll be fine as long as you don't name a boy Sue lol. You are another new to me author so I'd be thrilled to win anything.
ReplyDeletesuemngirl(at)yahoo(dot)com
Oh that's great, Sue, glad we could connect on Killer Characters! I loved Johnny Cash too! Good luck!
DeleteFor a girl I'm partial to Emme or Emma & for a boy, Liam. turtle6422(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI like Emma too, and I've found some babies named Ella, which is very pretty. We have Liam Neeson to thank for the popularity of that name, but I do like it. Best of luck, Jana!
DeleteWhen my uncle was born, the nuns wanted his parents to name him Pius after the Pope - fortunately, my aunt and uncle decided that Thomas would be better.
ReplyDeletejtcgc at yahoo dot com
LOL! I quite agree. What a terrible name to stick a baby with! That's a great story though. Best of luck today!
DeleteHow about Rhoda? Your character can tell him it's Greek. It means Rose. AND. She doesn't have to tell him it's also Biblical. [Acts 12:13]. Shortly after my daughter Rhoda was born. The movie Rhoda came out. When she was a little bit older and started getting around. She didn't crawl. She scooted on her behind. So I started calling her roto-rooter. Not to long after that the ads for that plumbing service came out "Roto-Rooter" Needless to say. I stopped using that word. Sigh. I have not read any in the Soup Lovers Mysteries and would love to do so. Thanks for the chance to get one sooner. Rather than later. Della at deepotter (at) peoplepc (dot) com
ReplyDeleteHi Della ~ thanks for stopping by! I really like that name -- Rhoda, and Rhona too. I have a friend whose middle name is Rhea and wasn't Rhea the original earth goddess? Great names! And best of luck!
DeleteChoosing names is very important. I do love very feminine names for girls.
ReplyDeletemarypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
Hi Mary ~ nice to hear from you! I guess Sage will get his way! Good luck!
DeleteIf you're looking for actual suggestions, what about Eden? It's from the Bible, one of the meanings I found was delight (which a baby would be), and I think it's feminine. I'm not necessarily sure of some other name that works with both of your preferences, but please remember one thing. Even if you choose a commonish name, you can always spell it differently. Meg is short for exactly what most people think it is short for, I just spell it M-e-a-g-h-a-n. Thank you for participating in the month of giveaways. robbfan141729(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteOooh, I like that. Eden, it's short but has a nice ring to it. Reminds me of Aiden for a boy's name. Best of luck, Meg!
DeleteCongrats on your good news. I think sometimes you pick out a name and then you see the baby or pet and you realize the name doesn't fit and another name will come to mind and ends up their forever need.
ReplyDeletediannekc8(at)gmail(dot)com
I know what you mean, Dianne ~ maybe it's the baby who really chooses the name. Maybe by telepathy? Who knows? Best of luck today!
DeleteCongrats on your good news. I think sometimes you pick out a name and then you see the baby or pet and you realize the name doesn't fit and another name will come to mind and ends up their forever need.
ReplyDeletediannekc8(at)gmail(dot)com
Thanks for the chance. Maceoindo(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you and happy reading!
DeleteCongratulations on becoming a Mother. I just became a grandmother, twice, in a 5 week period, last year. Thanks for the giveaway dbahn(at)iw(dot)net
ReplyDeleteOh fantastic! How wonderful, Dianne ~ you must be so proud and happy! All the best today!
DeleteFor girls I like the name Angela. I read THE MADNESS OF MERCURY and it was great--when will the next one come out in that series?
ReplyDeletesuefarrell.farrell@gmail.com
Hi Sue ~ how nice to see you here! And thanks for stopping by. All Signs Point to Murder will be out on August 8th. I can't wait for it to see the light of day! That's #2 in the Zodiac Mysteries. Hope you get to enjoy it! And best of luck!
DeleteFor a girl's name, how about Valerie? and I would love to win The Madness of Mercury. The zodiac mysteries are intriguing to me. Thanks for the chance to win! aut1063(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteHi Autumn ~ Valerie's a great suggestion, but I really love your name! Maybe Sage will like it too. And I hope you get to enjoy the Zodiac Mysteries soon!
DeleteCongratulations!! How about Lily? That's my niece's name so I admit I am a bit biased. You could use a biblical name for her middle one--or vice versa.. I'd love to win a copy of Broth of Betrayal. Thanks for the chance to win.. salvatoresmom71(at) yahoo(dot)com.
ReplyDeleteHi Amy ~ what a pretty name! I like that! So many great suggestions today! Thank you and good luck!
DeleteGood evening Connie! You're a new-to-me author so I would certainly love to win the debut book in your Soup Lovers series. I named my oldest daughter after the famed actress Maggie Smith and my youngest daughter after my husband's ex-girlfriend Drucilla. sxygrndma48{at}yahoo{dot}com
ReplyDeleteDrusilla? Your husband's ex-girlfriend? Really??? You're pulling my leg, right? Very funny! Best of luck, Sandy!
DeleteI just adore the Soup Lovers Mystery series. I am very unhappy that there will no longer be any more books in this series.
ReplyDeleteAs for girl's names, I think Suzanne or Meghan would be nice.
agavigan@cox.net
Hi Annette ~ me too! But I'm so glad you could stop by today! Best of luck in the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI never relly wanted to know what sex our kids were. Suprise after labor I guess. Hope I win. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteOh, you're welcome. I felt the same, it didn't matter as long as they were healthy! Best of luck!
DeletePS: Send your email in a comment. Thanks!
Those babies are too cute...thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn ewatvess@yahoo.com
Aren't they adorable? I had lots of fun looking for baby pictures for this post! Best of luck, Marilyn!
DeleteAlice is a older name Allie is cute for short! I want to read a clue in the stew! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi Donamae - thanks for stopping by, and good luck in the giveaways this month!
DeleteI'm partial to my granddaughter's name, Aubree. But I have always loved the names Loralei and Chantal for girls, also. Thanks for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteeswright18 at gmail dot com
Hi Ellie - those are great names! I really love Chantal, not a name you think of every day!
DeleteI like names that have a nice nickname, and if a family name is used it is the middle name. That way - to my thinking - the baby can be an individual and not have anything/anyone they have to live up to.
ReplyDeleteThat's something to think about. You wouldn't want to burden a child with family history, knowing it is one thing, but living up to is quite another!
DeleteOops - forgot email - sorry!
ReplyDeletekpbarnett1941[at]aol.com
Hi Karen - got it, thanks!
DeleteWe named our children after relatives who have passed. It's a Jewish tradition to keep their memories alive. We didn't use the exact names, but names with the same meaning. Cheers (at) MarjimManor (dot) com
ReplyDeleteI have heard of that, Margo. And by the way, I've always loved the name Margo! It's a lovely tradition.
DeleteMy daughter's name is Rachel Leigh. Our son who was thought to be a girl was going to be Rebecca Louise but when he came out a boy was named Rhett Lyndon. Much like my daughter I love the new trend to use unique names for babies. I love Dahlia, Poppy, Lydia, or to be exotic Chai or China. Babies are scary in the beginning especially if you have little to no experience with younger siblings or nieces or nephews but once they're yours you learn to go with the flow and just do your best. Thanks for the opportunity to enter this giveaway. robeader53(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteHi Robin - You've brought up. Whole bunch of really unique names! I love Poppy, and Rhett and China, even India! Good choices!
DeleteCongratulations. Choosing a name is very hard and done, you actually have to see your baby and hold him or her to finally decide. Our daughter was named Amy up until the last few hours of labor and suddenly, Melissa was our choice! Our 3 three old granddaughter is Isabella and we call her by that name. Best wishes!!
ReplyDeleteConnie
cps1950(at)gmail(dot)com
Hi Connie - All those names are lovely! And I always thing of Queen Isabella of the ?15th century when I hear that name!
DeleteCongratulations on your good news. I also like Biblical names. My 3 sons are Paul, Jonathan, and Matthew.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to like names like Sophie and Zoe. My new granddaughter is Madison Marie.
6186pep(at)msn(dot)com
Hi Darlene - I agree. Biblical names for boys are really nice, even David or Michael or Noah, a name I've heard in recent years.
DeleteI Love the feminine names for girls. My Given is Meredith and I was the only one at the time so teachers weren't sure the first day if it was a girl or boy's name (Meredith Wilson-Music Man). I love the name Everleigh or Aleyna they're so melodic. Thank you for the chance to enter this wonderful giveaway! Merry Northstarvance@Gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI like that name too! Meredith has a certain gravitas, doesn't it? Not old fashioned, but very dignified!
DeleteDon't pick a name with a goofy spelling! Nothing too complicated-maybe think about favorite characters you've enjoyed.
ReplyDeletecozyupwithkathy @ gmail dot com
Hi Kathy - you bring up a good point about characters. Naming a baby's one thing, but choosing names for characters can be just as hard! Best of luck this month!
DeleteThe perfect name would be Laurel! Thanks for the great giveaway! doward1952(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteHi Doward - that's a good choice too, kinda reminds me of Willow, but I'll definitely add Laurel to my list!
Delete
