Skye Denison Boyd from Denise Swanson’s Welcome Back to Scumble River series, Devereaux
Sinclair from her Devereaux’s Dime Store series, and Dani Sloan from her Chef-to-Go
series debuting April 2018
Skye: I love Christmas, at least the idea of Christmas. I’m
not as fond of the stressful pre-holiday season. Finding just the right gift
for everyone, figuring out what dish to bring to each party, and especially helping
the students whose situations are less than ideal cope with the holidays. On the other hand, I do get to spend the
holidays with my handsome new husband. So on a scale from one to ten, I’d say,
I’m a firm 8.
Dev: I love the holidays! As the owner of Devereaux’s Dime Store
and Gift Baskets, it’s fun to decorate the store, create the gift baskets, and
especially see all the wonderful profits go into the bank. Plus this year, I
get to spend the holidays with my hunky new boyfriend. So on a scale from one
to ten, I’m a firm 10.
Dani: Wow! Hard question. As a caterer and personal chef,
the holidays are my busiest season so I don’t really celebrate much myself. I
do love making yummy treats and scrumptious meals for my clients. And the money
is very welcome to my fledgling new business. But since I’m estranged from my
father and not dating anyone, I’ll be alone. So one a scale of one to ten, I’m
a 6. Maybe by next year there will be someone in my life and I can upgrade to a
10.

ReplyDeleteI'm not really into Christmas this year. The first Christmas where it is just me and my husband. I'm used to being with a house full of my brothers and nieces and boyfriends and friends, etc. I'll be calling to talk to everyone maybe from the beach depending on the weather. pgenest57(at)aol(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas as I get to catch up with family members.

Dime stores used to be a great place to buy little gifts for people at the office, neighbors, etc.----I miss them, the dollar stores just don't have the same vibe.

The older I get the more I enjoy the holidays since now I am retired & can enjoy watching A Christmas Carol in many versions, White Christmas & other Christmas-themed movies & programs. I can also relax doing a Christmas embroidery project while I'm watching the British mysteries I love so much. There's no more running around for the kids (they are grown doing their own running around with their families!) & no more huge holiday dinners to plan for since we go to our daughter's house now. And no more baking for church, school or the office. I bake for my husband & me now. lnchudej@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteLove these cozies. Enjoy the Christmas shows on tv and reading Christmas themed cozies. nettiem(at)toledotel(dot)com
ReplyDeleteThe best part about this time of year. Is visiting with family. And the quiet times. Less traffic more time to read. I have not read either of these books and it is hard to chose one. But think I will go with the oldest one. Murder of an Open Book, if chosen Appreciate this chance. Thanks Della at deepotter (at) peoplepc (dot) com
ReplyDeleteInteresting variations in response from the various characters.

ReplyDeleteI love Christmastime, but not as much as I used to-I guess I'm a 7. I don't decorate inside as much as I used to and I ship most of my presents. Still, the day after Thanksgiving the lights get turned on outside and the radio station in the car switched from classic rock to all Christmas music!

ReplyDeleteMore series/authors for my TBR list. Since I generally work on Christmas Eve & Christmas day, I don' t do much in celebration. schmokercarol(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying the Christmas holiday this year. We moved into our dream home this year. We downsized so not near as much to decorate and we are foregoing most of the gift exchange stuff this year. After all the new home was our gift. Eliminating having to fight the crowds and the expense means we can concentrate more of the important things. We can do what we want when we want without having to do it. It's amazing how fun it can be once you take the pressure off. So nice to be able to sip hot cocoa sitting on sofa with hubby instead of standing in a long line at the mall. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the chance to win a copy of either Between a Book and a Hard Place OR Murder of an Open Book. That would be a hard choice but I'd sure love the chance. :)

I love the Scumble River and haven’t yet read the the Dime Store series. Holidays can be stressful, especially now that my kids are grown and it's difficult to get together because of everyone's work schedule. ematov(at)comcast(dot)net
ReplyDeleteDecember is the craziest month for our family! We have Birthdays on 3,6,7,9,15,23,25(mom's 91st) and 27th (this is immediate family). We have an anniversary on the 19th and of course we have BOTH Christmas and Chanukah! I start gift lists in the summer and get what I can ahead of time! Reading and reviewing is my passion and crochet is another passion since we are retired to FL now, I have time! Thank you for the giveaway! Merry northstarvance(at)Gmail(dot)com

ReplyDeleteI enjoy the holidays but since we will have an empty nest this Christmas, it is not as much fun. However, I enjoy the music and the Hallmark movies plus some Christmas reading. Happy holidays to all and let there be peace on this earth. jluebke(at)frontier(dot)com

ReplyDeleteI have read all the books in the first two series and have the new one pre-ordered. I love the holidays. All my shopping is done (I even bought a few extra things over the weekend). My presents are all wrapped (except for the ones coming this week). Tree is up, but not decorated. Hopefully today and if not definitely tomorrow. Thanks for the chance to win. kayt18 (at) comcast (dot) net
ReplyDeleteI love a good mystery at the holidays. It's like a balance of tastes - cutting the sweetness with lemon zest.
ReplyDeleterudycwrightlibrarian at gmail dot com.
Your book was on my list so thank you for the chance.

I love Christmas mystery cozies.I haven't read any of Denise's books but I'm always open to read new series. I use to love Christmas at a rate of 10. These past 2 years things have changed and my siblings no longer get together so now I would rate it as a 5. I enjoy decorating the house, inside and out. And then there's the baking and shopping. I do most of my shopping online so I don't have to face the crowds. This year I may go to the mall and people watch. Thank you for giving me a chance to meet new authors through their books. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas may it be filled with love, laughter, family and friends.
