Jet Lag

by Cole Holt
from REVENGE IS SWEET by Kaye George

I have to tell you, I’m not all that pleased with the greeting I got from my sister, Tally, when I called to tell her I was coming to Fredericksburg to see her. I’ve heard so much about her vintage sweet shop, Olde Tyme Sweets, I had to take a look.

Well, no, I hadn’t given her warning, but can’t a brother drop in on his sister out of the blue? I had to be in Texas anyway and I’ll bet she’d be mad if she knew I was there and didn’t see her. I’m seriously jet lagged and need a place to crash for a few days. To be honest, it wasn’t so much my showing up unannounced that got me the cold shoulder. I think she just doesn’t want to take care of my cat.

Yes, I am dumping Nigel on her. My vagabond life style isn’t conducive to having pets. And no, she doesn’t like cats. At least that’s what she says. I think she’ll get over it, though. Nigel is a big sweetheart. And I mean big! He’s even big for his breed, Maine Coon. She’ll warm up to him. She likes her independence, but cats aren’t much trouble, right?

Oh, by the way, don’t tell her that I’m planning on him moving in with her permanently. I have to go about this gradually. We’ll win her over, I’m sure, but right now she’s not thrilled with the idea of suddenly having a pet.

  1. Lucky Tally! I had a Maine Coon & they're the coolest big cats on earth.

  2. Bet she falls in love with him - in time. :)

  3. My niece had a Maine Coon. Benny is now living with my sister in law down in Florida. That puddy tat is so laid back you'd think he was comatose. LOL

I'd love cats but am deathly allergic to them (even with pills).

How could she not love that face.......I would love to see a Maine Coon. Only see them in pictures.

  5. I'll take Nigel if Tally won't, however, I think she will.

  6. What a cutie!! Bet she ends up falling in love with him.

  7. I'm home myself today--a day late because of the weather. I spent last night in Philadelphia, of all places. Thanks for the comments on Maine Coon cats. The ones I've known are sweethearts!
