Fireworks in South Cove
It's summer here in South Cove. We're a tourist town on the central California coast so this is our busiest season. Tourists come in by the bus load starting on Wednesday and we're slammed through the weekend. The only day I get off unless I take vacation is Monday. Which is just about enough time to grocery shop, clean the house, and buy dog food for my golden retriever, Emma.
Owning a shop is a brutal way to make a living sometimes, you never know what you're going to bring home after paying employees, book stock, coffee, and desserts. But I love it. Probably because I love the people who work for me and those who think I work for them. Yes, I'm talking about my Aunt Jackie. I'm not sure what I'd do without her now that she's part of my life. Day in and day out.
Anyway, like I said, we're busy getting ready for the fourth of July festival coming up next week. Today we have the monthly business to business meeting at my shop. I would have cancelled but the mayor wanted us to hear from the fire chief, Barry Gleason. I guess he has some summer safety talk that we've all probably heard a hundred times.
I've got to go. But if you're in South Cove, stop by Coffee, Books, and More. I'll buy you a coffee and we can catch up.
