Beating the heat

By J.J. Tanner from the Dinner Club Mysteries by Linda Wiken

How's the weather these days where you live? Here in Burlington, VT we've had a heat wave with some record breaking temperatures. But I hear that's happening in a lot of areas.

If you live in one of them, I'd like to know what's your secret of survival?

I just got back from spending three days at a friend's place at one of our many gorgeous lakes. But as beautiful as it was, it didn't really help beat the heat. That took daily dips in the water, several of them, to do that and nights with both ceiling and floor fans working hard.

The only thing I can say is remember that in just over six short months, we'll be complaining about the cold. Does it help to think about that? I didn't think so.

Even though we had a break from the weather this weekend, it's coming back. So really, I do want some tips on how to cope, especially if you can't get away from  it all.

What do you suggest?

  1. My method of coping with the heat is to stay inside with air conditioning running or going to one of the malls near where I live. I know some people gosee movies in air conditioned theaters.

  2. Beat the heat with A/C, but I mostly like to sit under our Big Ass Fan (yes that is the actual name of the company that makes the fans) with an ice cold glass of Diet Pepsi and read a book. Love to read and reading distracts you from thinking about the heat. :)
