Lillac Festival Time #giveaway

So the picture to the left doesn't really go with Lilac Festival - an annual weekend festival in June on Mackinac Island. We'll get to why that picture is posted a little farther down the blog. (Hint: there is an ARC giveaway.)

Hi, I'm Allie McMurphy and It will be nearly a year since I started my adventure as a hotel and fudge shop owner in the fudge shop capital of the world, Mackinac Island, Michigan.

Last weekend, June 5-9th was the Lilac Festival and my intrepid writer signed books at one of my favorite spots, The Island Bookstore. In the summer season Mackinac Island is teeming with festivals and tourist, who we lovingly call fudgies because they buy so much fudge. Don't worry, buying fudge is a very good thng from my point of view.

If you ever get a chance to go to Mackinac in June you will see the most amazing lilac blooms. The aroma of flowers and candy is heady indeed. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a hike through the state park, or spread a blanket on the wide lawn across from the marina and spend the day leisurely enjoying the sights and sounds of another era. You see we don't have cars on Mackinac Island. Instead we use horse drawn taxi's, bicycles or our own two feet. Below is a post card with a view:

Now, I did promise that I'd explain why I have a picture of a scarecrow in a June blog. My author is giving away an uncorrected, advanced reader copy of Fudge Bites, out September 2019. All she asks is that the winner leave an honest review.

Leave a comment below telling us where you go to slow down, kickback and relax on a perfect summer day.

Best of luck and see you soon on Mackinac Island, Allie

  1. Believe it or not, my favorite place on a lovely summer day is my covered patio on the south side of our house. Especially if I also have a good book, my favorite cat (who has her own chair on the patio), and something to drink, a latte or a margarita, depending on the temperature. Winters here are long, cold and snowy, so we enjoy every minute of our summers. My lilacs are in full bloom and I can see and smell them from my patio as well.

  8. Wow I don't have a real kick back and relaxe place--unless you count my craft room :) I usually de-stress in there or if that room is too crowded I'll go sit out in the garden. Vicki (nvictoria77(at)yahoo(dot)com

  18. I have fond memories of biking on Mackinac. Here in Missouri, I like to stroll Main Street, St. Charles, though Frontier Park is flooded right now. Unwinding at home is good also, as long as I have a good book. <3

  20. Since we have such horrible heat and humidity, the best place to relax and kick back is in my little house. Chilled constantly with a/c, comfy and cozy and nice to read and chill. The house is nice too, just not as secluded, lol. Thanks for the chance to win. kayt18 (at) comcast (dot) net

  22. I like to relax in my bedroom. I have a queen sized bed with six soft pillows and super soft cotton sheets. It is a relaxing place for me. When I have time, I like to look at the ocean. I find it peaceful to look out at all that water (my city is on Gulf of Mexico). I cannot wait to read Fudge Bites. Thank you for a chance to win and have a good week.
