Hi, I'm Allie McMurphy and It will be nearly a year since I started my adventure as a hotel and fudge shop owner in the fudge shop capital of the world, Mackinac Island, Michigan.
Last weekend, June 5-9th was the Lilac Festival and my intrepid writer signed books at one of my favorite spots, The Island Bookstore. In the summer season Mackinac Island is teeming with festivals and tourist, who we lovingly call fudgies because they buy so much fudge. Don't worry, buying fudge is a very good thng from my point of view.
If you ever get a chance to go to Mackinac in June you will see the most amazing lilac blooms. The aroma of flowers and candy is heady indeed. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a hike through the state park, or spread a blanket on the wide lawn across from the marina and spend the day leisurely enjoying the sights and sounds of another era. You see we don't have cars on Mackinac Island. Instead we use horse drawn taxi's, bicycles or our own two feet. Below is a post card with a view:
Now, I did promise that I'd explain why I have a picture of a scarecrow in a June blog. My author is giving away an uncorrected, advanced reader copy of Fudge Bites, out September 2019. All she asks is that the winner leave an honest review.
Leave a comment below telling us where you go to slow down, kickback and relax on a perfect summer day.
Best of luck and see you soon on Mackinac Island, Allie
