By Adele Jordan from Maddie Day's Country Store Mysteries
Howdy there! Sheeoo, it's hot here in South Lick. And I'm telling you, tempers are running pretty darn high, too.
Can you even believe some developer lady wants to up and build a big fancy resort up top of the hill? It don't make no sense to me. What do we need a resort for? We already live in heaven here in Brown County. We don't need a load of rich folks coming in, jamming up the roads, and probably not even shopping in town.
Sure, I know that security guy, he wants himself a job, and so does the lady who drives the construction equipment. But I'm thinking they're going to have to find themselves work somewheres else.
So me and a few other folks, we're mounting the opposition. Fact is, me and my friend Vera, we were ready to chain ourselves to trees up there. But then one of Robbie's bed and breakfast guests went and got himself killed right there at the site. It was a sad and disturbing thing, so we had to change our tactics just a tad.
Anywho, you can read all about it in my author's new book, Strangled Eggs and Ham, which comes out at the end of this month. Hope you get a chance to preorder it, 'cause that sure as heck does help the author. To celebrate the release, Maddie wants to send one of you a special Wicked Authors bag.
Readers: What's your favorite way to cool off during a hot summer? Please let me know how to reach you, or check back here tomorrow for the winner.

DeleteMy favorite way is a cold glass of lemonade. I also love staying inside with the air conditioning on because I don't do hot well. One trick to cool down is to take a warm shower before bed. It's really helpful. Thanks for the chance!! ematov (at) comcast (dot) net
