Do you believe in curses???? And giveaway!!!

By Mae West from A Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery Series written by Tonya Kappes

Seriously...curse?
Meh, I'm not scared...

especially when there is a lot of money to be found. At least that's what the treasure hunter staying at my campground had said during his time to tell a story over the campfire. Now, I know most stories told in the dark over a few scorched s'mores and a roaring flame were considered tall tales, but not the legend of John Swift and his silver mine.
Legend has it, over 400 years ago an Englishman by the name of John Swift had been a sea captain with trades when the English were taking over the land. John Swift was so mad at how his people had robed the land that he started to counterfeit the English crown and giving it to the people of the land. It just so happens, John Swift ventured into our very own Daniel Boone National Forest where he hide his operations and not only buried much of the coins, but found silver. After being put in jail for his criminal ways, his journals were left behind along with his maps and still today treasure hunters flock Kentucky to look for the treasure.
Only....few have come away without something going horribly wrong. I'm not scared. Me and the Laundry Club ladies want our own crack at finding the treasure and that means packing up my campervan and heading to a primitive campground without electricity or cell phone service.
We aren't scared! After all, we are being accompanied by one of the best treasure hunters who knows exactly what he's doing.
At least I thought he did until he fell off a cliff and died. Unfortunately, there's no way out because a big rain has flooded the roads and it appears as if we are in a little pickle. I was beginning to think we were having just a little bad luck until another person turned up dead.
Now I'm wondering if it's the John Swift curse or someone trying to scare us....

  3. I have gone on treasure hunts - of sorts. We do scavenger treasure hunts on bike runs. Basically, you drive from one location to another with clues to find the clues (in the form of some item or object) before going on the next location. At the end of the map, providing you have found all the clues, then you can solve the mystery and be entered to win the prize. They are tons of fun to see who can find them first and get back to solve the mystery. It's more about playing the game than winning because most times the prize is donated back to the charity that we are doing it for to start with. :)

I would love to go on a regular treasure hunt for some lost treasure. I think it would be so exciting.

    Happy Birthday ROWENA!

Thank you for the chance to win a copy of one of the books in the CAMPER & CRIMINALS COZY MYSTERY SERIES!

  21. When my son was younger he had to go to his dad's every other weekend. One weekend I found an envelope he had left for me. There was a slip of paper inside with my first "clue"! I followed all my clues to find the greatest treasure! My son had made a drawing and written that he loved me "as big as a treasure hunt!" I still have the envelope, clues and drawing tucked safely away in a memory box. Best ever!

  43. I understand your pleasure but pain about new babies being deposited around your surroundings. We had three mama's deliver their precious bundles in our garage and garden areas. We even helped one mama in the middle of a thunderstorm and had to cut the cord on three who had gotten twisted in it and the placenta too. It was amazing and I was honored the mama let me help her. All together there were 12 little bundles of fur. Well since their birth we have been a treasure hunt of sorts, trying to keep an eye on the wee babes since we have raccoons who prowl at night. Fingers are crossed I might win a choice of book. robeader53(at)yahoo(dot)com

Soon, we will heading back to UK where I've lived and worked since 2006...to pack up belongings to ship back to the states. That will ne a treasure hunt also! But as to a map and a treasure hunt... no but I'd like to! Our younger son in law always did a treasure hunt for our granddaughter when she was young...shed have to follow clues to find Easter treasures or a surprise gift!
